Simply amazing in every way - the staff, the tours, the travel advice and the food. Tents are super comfortable. Each day the hotel organized snorkels and walks, with excellent guides. The communal dining makes you feel like you’re dining with family. Food was excellent everyday.

This is a 2 star hotel with a 5 star rating and price. The tents were not staked properly. When we asked for it to be tighter, they repaired 1 of 4 tent stakes. They told us we had ear plugs for the tent noise. My husband fixed the problem with a stake. They didn't sweep our room and wouldn't give me a broom. There were flies everywhere. It was unsanitary and I was told that there was nothing they could do. There was no person in charge of the resort. The result was the staff was only grudging assisted and only performed tasks at a bare minimum. I could go on and on and on. I would never pay to stay here again.

Wow Wow wow, loved Sal Salis, loved the glamping, the staff, the luxury, the communal living. Everything was on point. Loved you could not logon to internet and people actually chatted over sunset drinks. The tents are set among the sand dunes - with the reef literally 10m off shore - you couldn't wish for a better location than this. If only it was deeper and warmer, then it would have been perfection. The staff are relaxed and easy-going, passionate and professional its wonderful to see such young people with so much knowledge. We loved the daily tours - from awe-inspiring sunrise walks along Mandu Mandu Gorge or Yardie Creek (yes, they are worth the early wake-up!), Ackerley and Phil were passionate, knowledgeable and beyond amazing! Even helping us oldies up the hill at Yardie creek. (just a warning this is not an easy walk, unfortunately none of our group was quite prepared for how tough it was) but we copnquered it. Just a tip, if your there during Whale, Whale shark time, dont miss out on a snorkelling adventure, its well worth it, hard work but one you will never foregt. Sal Salis is in our hearts and highly recommended, we loved this adventure.

There is a fine line between luxury and excess and Sal Salis has nailed it! This place has everything you need - and nothing you don't. Set among the sand dunes - with the reef literally 10m off shore - you couldn't wish for a better location than this. The Safari Tents are beautiful, sturdy and cosy; the food in delicious and varied, but not too fussy; the staff are relaxed and easy-going, but passionate and professional - and kids are happily catered for. The best part for us were the daily tours - and we said 'yes' to every single one that was on offer!! From various snorkelling tours and awe-inspiring sunrise walks along Mandu Mandu Gorge or Yardie Creek (yes, they are worth the early wake-up!), Phil and his team were passionate, knowledgeable and beyond amazing! At the end of 5 days we had seen and experienced so much, it felt as though we had been at Sal Salis for weeks!

We stayed in the honeymoon tent for 3 nights and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It’s clear that Sal Salis strives for perfection and it delivers on many fronts. The location is unbeatable. There are many camping spots dotted on the same coastline but despite sleeping in “tents” Sal Salis is certainly not camping. Our tent, though basic in that it had a drop toilet, outdoor shower, minimal lighting and no electrical sockets - was comfortable and perfectly located. It’s situated slightly away from the other tents with the verandah looking out over the dunes to the sea. We had private access to a private beach for use only by us. The swing seat on the verandah was perfect for listening to the waves and watching the sunset. The reef is just metres from the shore at Sal Salis so the snorkeling is out of this world. Dining at Sal Salis is awe inspiring. Every meal was superb and we ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. How the chef(s) come up with such amazing menus and well executed food in such a remote location was a wonder to us and all guests we spoke to. Special mention to Lawrence (I hope I spelled that correctly) whose warmth, helpfulness and friendliness really shone through. That’s not to deter from all the other staff - they were all so friendly and helpful and clearly wanting to go the extra mile. I could go on and on about this place but perhaps it’s best summarised by the fact that though it’s described as a once in a lifetime experience, we would love to return one day

Glorious 3 days at Sal Salis. The tents are incredibly comfortable. The food delicious, plentiful and healthy. The daily tours (for guided snorkels to the wonderful and close snorkelling sites and for walks) were perfect. The staff were wonderful - incredibly helpful and accomodating. For our kids they arranged earlier ‘kid’ dinners dealing with each of the challenges of fussy kids. Snorkelling straight out the front ant the beach was glorious, and the evening canapés watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean was magic.

This is a truly exceptional place. One could repeat all the superlatives; i would simply say it is unique. Deluxe camping an extraordinary location, all to yourselves, with access to the beach, sea, snorking, walking and views for miles around. What makes the place that bit better is the perfect balance of informality with exceptional food and service. you could not ask for more. Yes it is expensive, but remember where you are, that you will want for nothing, spend nothing more and not sacrifice any comforts. Thanks to all the team for making our stay so special

We recently stayed at Sal Salis on Ningaloo Reef and it was an amazing experience. The staff were so lovely. Special mention to Lawrence, Leith, Jess(Jeff) and Erin. Food was delicious, tents were terrific. Comfy bed which was made up every day. The beaches are spectacular and the snorkelling tours really good. Loved our swim with the whalesharks but agree it’s quite strenuous and full on. But the guys and girls on the boat were very helpful and assisted us really well. Love, love, loved it!

I have just returned from three nights at Sal Salis. The resort was well organised - the transfer arrangements and dietary requests were requested and met in full. The food was absolutely delicious and the company of the guests was very pleasant. As another reviewer mentioned the tent and path lighting are all LED low voltage and not so bright. And there is no airconditioning as the resort takes its eco responsibilities seriously. Mobile phone charging is available via two USB ports in the room; there are no 240V sockets in the tent. The reef was in good condition - neither broken nor bleached. This reflects the fairly remote location and the relatively few visitors compared to the Maldives for example. I saw plenty of fish, a ray and turtles on the reef I went on the hotel organised Yardie Creek Gorge walk, the Oyster Bay snorkel and the Oyster Bay canoe trip & snorkel. I also went on the Exmouth Diving Centre whale shark trip. What I would say is that the canoe and whale shark trips are physically demanding and a decent level of fitness, ie stamina, swimming ability and water confidence are required. The canoe trip is a 700m paddle out and back to the reef’s edge and requires clambering out and then back in to the floating canoe. The whale shark viewing takes place in the open ocean (beyond the reef) with a current, sea swell and wind - it is a thoroughly rewarding & memorable experience but it is not a spectator activity, it is a sporting activity requiring considerable physical effort. Help is at hand from the guides for all activities and noodles are available for the whale shark swim. Despite the assistance there were not many over 60’s in the resort / participating in the water based activities. I would have no hesitation recommending a stay at Sal Salis and suggest three or four nights as an ideal length of stay, longer could be a bit boring.
