Mill on the Exe

Break away. Lovely inn on the bank of the exe. Short walk into the town or the quay. Rooms are stylish and comfortable. The bed was great and one of the best we have slept in. Lovely little touches coffee machine with fresh milk. Nice toiletries and lovely towels. We stayed in the attic room, downside the wet room where the whole room get wet. Breakfast has a nice choose, but cooked food takes along time to come from the kitchen, but luckily we where not in a rush. Would recommend to others

A little weekend getaway for my wife and myself was in order and the mill on the exe did not disappoint From a lovely Sunday roast and a great seafood platter and Singapore crab fries along with a fantastic choice for breakfast we were spoilt with the food available. A cheeky drink outside in the sunshine was very welcome and the bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy The staff were all warm and welcoming but special praise must go to Ophelia who was the icing on the cake for her happy and helpful demeanour We would not hesitate to come back and hopefully a little later in the year we will be Many thanks

Lovely hotel. Location is ideal, right next to the Exe for a feeling of tranquility and yet only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Exeter. Room was very clean and the added extra of a coffee machine as well as a kettle for making hot drinks a bonus. We stayed for 2 nights in a ground floor Superior Room, the little outside sitting area was very welcoming with a view out onto the Exe. Breakfast was very enjoyable as was the evening meal we had. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Lovely overnight stay. Clean, comfortable room. Great breakfast with good choices of hot food and continental breakfast. Staff all very friendly and efficient. Free parking is a bonus as parking is tricky in Exeter; usually have to pay so parking outside the accommodation area is perfect.

Lovely rooms (although ‘welcome snacks’ are actually not free so don’t eat before you read the tiny instruction card!) but restaurant staff miserable & food poor. Had to take back one of our breakfasts (eggs and avocado on toast) because it was cold, the eggs were dried up like they’d been under a heater for hours and the toast was rock hard), the dinners were very small but expensive and the service was miserable! If staying in the rooms make sure you read all of the (many) leaflets on the table before eating any of the snacks there which look like they’re regular free hotel treats (bearing in mind the room was £220 a night you’d expect a packet of crisps to be included - it’s not!) - each and every one of the snacks is chargeable which seems very stingy and also quite unfair as it’s easy to open these things before only afterwards finding out they’re not included in the price! The beds were comfortable and the maps/guidebooks were great additions, the only other issue we had was the wet room as our bathroom, which meant whenever we had a shower everything in the room got soaked and was wet for hours afterwards - a shower curtain or glass would be very helpful!

The hotel has an interesting history. Comfortable room with a river view. Table service at breakfast is a plus. The evening meal was really good but from a limited menu. Ideal location for exploring the area and the city. But the walk to the cathedral is via some steep steps.
