Premier Inn Exeter (Countess Wear)

Good value. Was a bit worried when I saw on the map that it is by a big roundabout but our room (44) was very quiet. There was plenty of free parking close to our room. The room we had was for 2 ie twin beds. There was no room for a sofa like in most Premier Inns.

Shocking place all round, bedroom was dirty and mouldy, holes in the bed sheets along with stains, sweet wrappers on the floor and stains. Bathroom was disgusting. I’m writing this on behalf of my partner who was attending a funeral, she complained and was moved to central Exeter. The photos she took are shocking ! A long way from the tv ads !

Has a motel look about it and a little tired around the edges. The shower in our room only had a fixed head and the base of the shower area had definitely seen better days. However, the room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the staff very friendly and the Beefeater restaurant OK as well. We had meal deals, and the breakfast service was great. I thought that they were a bit tight with the evening menus. I can understand them surcharging for more expensive meals such as steaks, but to start charging 50p extra for a Sundae seems tight.

Easy short-notice booking on-line. Very convenient with plentiful safe parking when travelling by car. Very comfortable, clean and quiet rooms with excellent en-suite. Lovely helpful staff and superb breakfasts. Great value! Only downside was food service had finished following late evening arrival after 9.00 pm.

We are regular users of Premier. It is our go-to motel, certainly for convenient overnight stays. This is our first time at the Countess Wear site. This place is getting very dated. The room was about as usual and the bed was comfy as always but there was only one USB socket in the room on the far side to the bed. And it didn't work (we tried both the cables we use daily at home which we had brought with us) so we were unable to charge either of our phones, iPad or computer. Frustrating. Also no way to contact reception excect to walk a very long way back to the desk in person. We had arrived late at night and all we wanted to do was to get some sleep so didn't tell reception about the USB until the morning. They said it was probably unplugged from behind the TV but as the UBS was integrated in a socket in the wall this clearly wasn't the case. The rooms need updating to bring them into use for 21st century travellers.

Bedroom very modern and well equipped. Staff friendly and great parking and breakfast. Great shower, and large bathroom. Check in was easy as was registering the car. Although the outside looks run down and tatty the rooms and the decor inside the rooms definitely make up for it. Great location for a stay in Exeter or for airport
