Good hotel and clean

La Verniaz is a Great Hotel with its Historical Character and Scenic Views. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodations, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable.

Have just returned from Verniaz. We had a lovely time. The staff make the hotel. It is very pretty. Restaurant is lovely, food delicious and a very relaxed atmosphere. I wouldn’t say our stay was cheap compared to other French hotels we have stayed in ranging from 3-5 star. This hotel was clean with a lovely bed and bedlinen and clean bathroom. There is much need for some improvements as some of the things listed we cannot see how it maintains a 4 star rating? I am not sure if they hold this 4 star because of the fact it is attached to other hotels in this resort. The ground were beautiful and flowers were amazing. The room was tidy and had character as all French hotels do but needs some refurbishment, ie marked and old balcony furniture with a huge aircon unit taking up space on the balcony. The sunlounger (there was one) was badly marked with suncream and the metal bistro table did not have cushions and was definately not something from a 4 star hotel. The doors to the room are very old, noisy and the key system requires a few attempts to get in and out of the room. This is by far the weirdest system I have ever seen for a door. Great for a short person!! We had noise one night from a neighbouring room. Now I may add that this part of the hotel is old and in need of refurbishment…there is no soundproofing what so ever! We reported it at midnight and a guy eventually answered from the Royal Hotel. We never had any feedback on this so the next day we ended up in the same room, no apology nothing. Ironically before our stay I requested a quiet room at the end of a corridor so we could relax….we had a middle room with kids next door above the restaurant!!!!! We travel a lot so are used to hotel rooms. We also found the pool area in need of repair….missing or broken bits of wood pannelling under the roof of the gym area, floor tiles lifted and uneven, weeds which could easily have been tidied up in a few minutes and strimming needed doing around the changing rooms. The pool itself was lovely but areas were very tired and again nowhere near 4 star. There were also no seat covers for the chairs and loungers around the pool, so they weren’t very comfortable. FYI the booking says there is a minibar in the room….there isn’t! We had to ask for one to keep some cold bits in and that arrived the day after as the man who delivers fridges was not there (?), so for the start of our stay we had to pop down to use the fridge in kitchen. It was for a very special occasion, in fact two very big occasions during our stay but this was not recognised by anyone during our stay. All in all much room for improvement with some positive parts that could bring the hotel up to 4 star after some refurbishment. We checked the prices of the rooms during our stay and the amount we paid for a classic room was dearer that a short notice room with view of the lake so a bit miffed about that.
