Stayed at The Bear for two nights. Food was good. Room was modern and comfortable, however, minor issues let it down. Tap on bathroom sink loose and wood panelling behind bed needed a good dust. Plenty of soft towels. Pleased to see non slip mat in shower.

We booked The Bear, as part of company hospitality event at the racecourse. Also being referred by other members of the company who are based in Surrey. Parking was slightly ropey, but we did manage to get into the car park. The building is lovely, so much character. The room was nice, slightly on the small side. Nicely done, for the price point. My only real critique in the room is the pillows, new ones are needed and the shower needs fixing, so the head can be supported, without having to held. I would definitely request a rear room, as the road side is very noisy. I think the hotel really needs to print an invoice off for guests at check it. Instead, nothing is handed over. An amount is charged (which guests have no chance to rectify) then the invoice arrives 1-2 days after the stay.

Absolutely wonderful!! The staff were so helpful & friendly. The manager (Jake)we think that was his name, was particularly helpful & welcoming. The room was spacious with a Suoerking bed. Coffee maker. Milk in the fridge along with lots of treats to purchase with an“honesty”policy. Also two free delicious brownies waiting on our arrival. Lovely bespoke breakfast. Perfect situation in the town & a 5 minute walk to the theatre where we saw a brilliant show.

Another excellent stay at a lovely hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable. A lively evening in the bar with some great live entertainment was a great way to complete our stay. A full English before leaving was a great way to complete the stay. Many thanks to all the staff for a great stay

I had an absolutely amazing stay at The Bear Esher! From the state of the rooms to the menu and cuisine, everything was impeccable. The warm and welcoming staff truly made our trip cozy and enjoyable - they were attentive and made us feel right at home. The only minor inconvenience was the location of the rooms and access to them when the Bear on the ground floor was closed. However, this didn’t take away from the overall incredible experience. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay. I would definitely love to return!

My partner and I stayed for a couple of nights and had a meal. It was lovely—the rooms were cozy, the food was nice, but the service was even better! Ethan and Ellie took great care of us, and they were fantastic. We will definitely be back again!

Friendly welcome however the room was not worth the tariff paid. The blind in the bedroom was broken: the coffee machine was broken and did not work properly leaving a pool of coffee on the table and not in the cup; the shower control was too stiff for me to turn; the shower slider was wobbly: there was only one bedside table; the bedside light did not work. Couldn’t find anyone upon checking out to be told it’s all automatic. It would also help if they provided the key code for the car park prior to arrival. Purely on personal preference, I would rather open a window than have air con on. On the plus side, nice linens and honesty bar (not that we used it but nice touch). Oat milk also appreciated and the shower gel etc was lovely.

Room 1 was not the best. Shower would not turn off. Pillows uncomfortable. Window on the traffic lights and no privacy window dressing. No sufficient lights to see in the mirrors. Broken window latch. Place looking shabby The online checkin I received before we arrived was pointless really as we had to endure a laboriously long check in when we arrived even though it was prepaid and I’d completed it prior.

Another fab Sunday lunch with friends at The Bear Esher. The Sunday roasts are fantastic and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The Bear team are lovely people - great service, very welcoming, attentive and kindly with all age groups. Big thanks to Freya, Ethan and Ellie on this recent visit!
