Spannort Family Home with Common Kitchen and Self Check-IN

Stayed for couple of nights at Hotel Spannot during Europe tour in June’24. The hotel is situated at a quiet marketplace at Engelberg and at a short distance from Mount Titlis. Rooms were moderate in size and was fitted with comfortable bed, wardrobe, chairs etc. Rooms had a tiny balcony with nice view of mountains and adjacent buildings. The washroom was clean and well maintained too. The room doors are opened through access code, which was informed beforehand. The staffs were friendly. The inhouse restaurant served decent breakfast. Overall, a comfortable stay at a scenic place.

We loved everything about this guest house! Charming, unique rooms with beautiful Swiss chalet-style woodwork, a sweet little balcony with view of snow-capped mountains, and a very comfy bed! The building has a well-stocked clean, communal kitchen, and friendly attentive staff. The "self-service" aspect is not a problem, everything worked seamlessly through the app. Lots of nice touches like extra fridge space for each room by the kitchen, and an "honesty"-based self-service espresso machine with treats always available. Easy access and secure ski equipment and luggage storage rooms. Great location also just steps from the (small) downtown area. The restaurant was fantastic too! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I stayed here in August 2023. I can sum up our experience with one word: Perfect! The PROS: 1) Mobile app check-in/electronic key/check-out/the ability to contact the host 2) Liked the fact that the room could also be accessed with a punch-in code (in addition to the mobile key) 3) The room was immaculate and wonderfully constructed... ample windows and power sources... it also featured a small refrigerator. The beds were comfortable and made even more so with their comforters 4) The common kitchen area was by far the nicest one we have encountered and had everything one could possibly think of for food preparation, cooking, and eating… and we also had a dedicated, lockable refrigerator 5) The eating area itself was beautifully appointed and looked out on the lovely Engelberg mountainside 6) The eating area also featured 1 CHF coffee (on the honor system), tea, and lots of cookies and the "cake of the day" 7) The hotel also features a restaurant, and although we did not avail ourselves of it, judging by the number of people frequenting it, I suspect it was excellent (like everything else about the place) 8) There was a lovely lounge set aside specifically for adults and a large playroom set aside for children 9) The location of the hotel was absolutely spectacular. Within easy walking distance to two grocery stores (Migros and Coop) and it was a stones throw from the train station. 10) We easily walked to the Mt. Titlis gondola station, but there is also a public bus that runs 3-4 times per hour. The CONS: 1) In the spirit of full disclosure, if there is one possible negative to cite it would be this: the bathroom shower is extremely tight and there is no tub. Neither bothered us in the least, but "large" individuals would not fare well with these accommodations. There may be other rooms that could accommodate large people, but ours would absolutely not have. 2) Nothing else!!!

We had a great time at Spannort hotel. This was the first ever long trip my kids (5 year old twins) and I had taken alone with them. My kids had experienced an unusually long flight and journey and extreme jet lag and foreign food issues. One of the owners Frank was so incredibly helpful and went out of the way to ensure we had a wonderful experience and we felt so much at home - almost too much :) - from picking us up at the station in the middle of the night to showing us the way and ordering us a romantic horse carriage ride to view the town with the Christmas lights on a snowy background…the kitchen was amazing and the entire hotel so clean. Hotel had a great view to wake up to every morning. The complimentary champagne and mulled wine with cake and cookies were such a warm and welcoming Christmastime gesture from both the owners and the hotel staff. The hotel restaurant was very accommodating of our schedules and the food was excellent. My kids’ favourite memory of an entire 3 week trip to Switzerland, London and Portugal was the playroom in Spannort hotel.

Die Begrüssung durch den Chef de Service war sehr herzlich. Unser Tisch war sehr angenehm gelegen. Obwohl am Nachbar Tisch Kinder sassen störten diese absolut nicht. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und nicht aufdringlich. Die Auswahl an Speisen sind nur zu empfehlen. Jeder Gang wurde erklärt, was es ist und wie es zubereitet wird. Die Qualität hervorragend. Die Weine ausgefallen und sehr zu empfehlen. Die Verabschiedung durch den Gastgeber bleiben in Erinnerung.

was für ein Empfang - wiederholt besuchten wir das tolle Restaurant Spannort in Engelberg - dieses Mal mit Freunden aus der Gross-Stadt - der Empfang von André und Maria war sehr freundlich und wir fühlten uns wie immer sofort willkommen - die Karte hat für jeden ein Leckerbissen und die Weinberatung durch Maria ist legendar - ein unvergesslicher wunderschöner Abend mit Freunden - besten Dank dafür.
