The Ropemaker - A Heartwood Inn

Our night at The Ropemaker was full of pleasant surprises from the moment we checked in. The room had a charming boutique feel, thoughtfully finished with sweet touches like nougat, chocolates, and macaroons. A generous supply of coffee and tea, along with little bottles of fresh milk, added to the welcome. The room itself was spotless, with a big, beautiful, and extremely comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was equally clean, stocked with plenty of towels and quality toiletries. The powerful shower was a highlight, though I would suggest installing a handrail inside the shower area for added safety, especially given the height of the bath. A handrail outside the bath would also be helpful when stepping out. The Ropemaker’s bar is one of the nicest I’ve seen in a long time — beautifully designed with attentive service to match. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, with great food and service that was consistently warm and professional. Overall, a lovely experience — we would happily return.

Wow I remember this venue as the Brookfield Hotel a lovely but tired and rundown venue......well not anymore the boys are back in town!. The Ropemaker is simply the best full of atmosphere with cosy nooks and larger seating for a party venue. The staff were amazing from greeting you when you arrive to making sure all was going well. The food was hot well presented good value and tasty I am already looking for an excuse to return I think this is going to be a regular event for me from now on.

Went for Sunday lunch Definitely not disappointed. The surroundings we comfortable & even though it was very busy we did not have to wait long for our Sunday roasts & the price was very reasonable. We were waited on by a fantastic professional friendly knowledgeable waitress by the name of Amber She certainly made our dining experience memorable. Thanks once again Amber. We met our friends here and enjoyed a drink in the bar before moving to our table. Service was friendly and professional throughout the evening. I enjoyed the Guinea Fowl started and the pie as my main course. I found the acoustics bad as the venue was full but I’d go here again as the food was very good.

Overpriced for what you get. Starter of French onion soup was nice enough, though a bit bland and very mean on the cheese on top. Main course of moules mariniere was disappointing. It tasted OK, but nothing to write home about, but the portions was what I’d expect for a starter, not a £17.95 main course. I left feeling hungry.

The meal was excellent we had the steak deal with a bottle of wine, also ordered crab and sweetcorn bites with crab mayonnaise delicious not included in deal, unfortunately our main meal was delayed for some time after the starter, but we were offered a complementary desserts which we thought was very good, we will be back all the staff attentive and efficient, loved the decor.
