We have stayed at Hilton properties all over the world and are loyal to the brand. We have pretty high expectations which were not met at Newark. The room was spacious, updated but not so clean as were the hallways. At check in we asked the clerk for housekeeping and said we weren't parking a car. When we asked for housekeeping on the 3rd day we were told we should have asked at reception. The housekeeping was minimal and didn't include making up the bed or provide coffee pods by day 4. Really the morning buffet was awful and below even budget brand Hampton Inn standards. For example the buffet scrambled eggs were greasy and hard. Orange juice was watery. The made to order omelet was greasy, made with cheap eggs, cooking oil and cheese. I took an orange to my room. It was totally dried up and inedible. We foolishly ordered a flat bread pizza at Happy Hour which was overcooked and sad. The whole food scene screamed, "let's save money by cutting every corner". We were concerned that no key security was required to use elevators. We appreciated the courteous shuttle drivers, especially Maxwell. At checkout we and our son who stayed in a separate room were charged for parking, which we declined and had to straighten out from home. It's too bad this attractive property is held back by poor management.
