The staff at the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel is undergoing repairs and updates but does not impact in the excellent service we recieved .thank you to all the staff

This is in all honesty the worst hotel i have ever stayed at. They call there rooms superior but there is nothing superior about the whole place. Showers do not work properly in the 2 rooms that we had. Decor is shabby and things are falling apart. Bags of dirty laundry lie everywhere from the front door onwards. We were booked there for 5 nights but after 3 nights we had enough and left. The final thing to cause us to leave was the barmaid closed the bar at 8.30 on a Friday night when we had a friend join us for a drink. We had to go next door to the Laichmoray Hotel for a drink. So we decided to book a room there for our last 2 nights stay in Elgin. What a great decision that was.

Bed was huge and bedding was crisp and clean. Room and bathroom were both spotless and had no complaints. Breakfast was great lots of fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, cereals, fresh fruits juices, full English breakfast, toast and jams were available. Could not have asked for more. Lady who served us was so helpful and nothing was to much trouble.

Very poor , £100 pound for the room don’t think it is worth £40, room is dated and beds are poor quality. Came back at 9.30 on a Saturday night and everything is closed , cant even get a drink. Shame building is lovely. And the member of staff that we have met is lovely

Absolutely awful. Substandard accommodation. Please see the photos attached - even the kettle inside was dirty. We actually left at midnight after returning from our event and booked at the hotel next door which was 5 star - the total opposite. Complaint has not been dealt with. Dirty curtains, dirty radiator, bed in tatters, curtains hanging next to the toilet. Dirty bathroom - wouldn’t have even showered there. Door handle fell off. Stained carpet. Window open to disguise smell. Wallpaper peeling. Honestly do not waste your money. Staff were useless in the morning when I returned with the key hoping to speak to someone.

The staff were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the room had a very bad smell of damp/drains 🤢 I felt that our clothes were smelling when we left the property, my 7 year old has developed a bad cough since, it may be unrelated. I didn't notice the smell when we first went in as they had the window open, we closed it then went out for the day, the smell was awful when we got back. The Royal Hotel should not be putting anyone in this room until they fix the problem.

Food was good everything else was bad, we booked this as it looked tidy and clean with nice bedrooms and when we got there we was put into a side building that felt like a hostel, very dirty with broken windows and dust everywhere. The rooms we got was nothing like what we was looking at in the pictures when we booked. Overall very poor and would definitely not recommend to anyone.
