Where do I start, the hotel itself is a little tired, down to it being very busy with workers, room was definitely tired with patches on the ceiling, discoloured toilet seat, and grubby grout in the bath area. TV had no signal when we arrived complained and was working again, possibly a booster switched off, Wi-Fi was non existent, again complained and they phoned the supplier to reboot and we had Wi-Fi, at a maximum of 1 mbs not great, staff were pleasant enough. Now the restaurant, a former brewers fayre next door, first night on arrival at the hotel we were informed we had to go and book a table when the restaurant opened at 5pm, why this couldn't be done at reception who knows. Arrived at our time shown to our table, order taken drinks arrived, warm wine that tasted like vinegar, when the food eventually arrived 25 mins later, warm but not hot, 2nd evening, shown to our table, told the chef was in training 6 items not available on the menu, order taken 20 mins after being seated, food arrived 25 mins later and a further 15 mins after main course finished desert order taken, when this was brought out, luke warm sticky toffee pudding, not good, 3rd night we walked over to the restaurant to book to be told the chef had walked out and the restaurant was closed, at no point did anyone at reception inform us of this even though we had booked 3 night with the meal deal, no message, no note under the door, nothing, had we known this earlier we could have made other arrangements, not what you want after being out touring all day, very poor service and not what you would expect from a Premier Inn. Needless to say we will not be going back to Elgin.
