Swell Surf & Lifestyle Hotel

I recently read a negative review of Swell and I am shocked that anyone could say anything bad about this magnificent paradise! We had a most relaxing week lounging around Swell’s sparkling clean pool. Everything was perfect. From the beauty of the landscape, the well appointed rooms, the most warm and friendly staff and above all, the best restaurant around. The food was of such high quality and so delicious that we ate almost every meal there. Swell Guatemala is the best choice of hotels to stay at in El Paredón. You will NOT be disappointed!

This is an outstanding destination. Best of all is the pool, excellent for swimming laps or lounging - clean, perfect temperature. And, although I like children, the hotel's policy of age 15 and over means there are no four-year-olds leaping on you or peeing in the pool. Friendly staff. Mostly good record-keeping. They tallied our meals and beers perfectly. However, we had requested a specific room and they had confirmed that it was reserved for us. But when we arrived they said it was not available, and the people staying there arrived later that day. OK, maybe they made the decision on who had made the reservation first, or who was staying the longest. But their record-keeping should be better. Also, they used to have a spectacular chef - Tara. The food now is good and healthy, but nothing special. So, a 4, but not far from a 5.

We had an incredible stay at the Swell .. This hotel exceeded all my expectations for a surf-focused getaway we had planned. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff. The hotel has beautiful flora and an open lobby and sitting area (pool adjacent). The location couldn't have been more perfect - a couple blocks from the beach with easy access to the waves. The hotel has surfboards and even had surf instructors available for those looking to improve their skills (for $25 a hour you can’t beat it !) The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. We stayed in one of the four pool suites .. steps from the pool and nice cool AC (a big plus a night!).. the outdoor shower looked and was completely amazing! After catching some waves (albeit as a couple 50 something beginners hey it’s never to late! Lol) We relaxed by the pool and enjoyes delicious meals from the hotel staff (Even shared one dinner and drinks with the owners Marie and Elan and his parents from Canada!) A variety of tasty dishes made with fresh local ingredients. So many healthy, delicious options. 5 out of 5 stars .. would recommend and actually can’t wait to get back again !!

Stayed in one of the rooms that walks out onto the pool and had the best time! Lights stay on by the pool until after ten and no one kicks you out. Fantastic bar - including an honours system beer fridge that includes amazing craft beer from both Guatemala and the southern US (Abiata, etc). The kitchen here serves up fantastic food too. The room had a huge comfortable bed, air conditioning (a must in this heat), a couch seating area and big bay windows looking onto the pool. The hotel is a four minute walk from the beach, though the beach here is pretty basic. The town is TINY with very little to do (we did it all in a day) so really just spending your time at the Swell is the best way to spend your vacation here. Loved it.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, Sam, Kevin and the others at the front dream where great. The food was the best we tasted in town. I highly recommend staying here. El Paredon is great, we will be back!
