Eagle House - Award Winning Luxury B&B and Apartment

We had such a lovely and memorable stay for two nights at Eagle House. We booked it to attend a family funeral, and the warm welcome we received from Andy and Helen, together with their beautiful and interesting house to relax in, turned a sad visit to this area into a most enjoyable one. We found the whole experience charming. The house is really lovely, approached through a large tranquil garden. We were warmly welcomed at the door and there were home made teatime treats waiting for us in the large hall. The house is large and gracious with interesting and eclectic furnishings and decor. The 3 rooms we took were all lovely; spacious and individually furnished and all very comfortable, and we all slept very well. The bathrooms are all luxurious and generous, in keeping with the atmosphere throughout. Everywhere is beautifully kept and extremely clean with so many little extra touches to make this a delightful place to stay. Andy is the chef and he makes the best breakfast we've had in a very long time! The options were all enticing and my Eggs Benedict were superb. Guests also have the use of a lovely and comfortable sitting room, well furnished in a charming and traditional way with plenty of books and interesting things to look at. Andy and Helen are very caring and friendly hosts, who we enjoyed talking to. They live in a separate wing so that you very much have the main house to yourselves, although they are at hand should you need them. They have gone the extra miles to make their house into a really warm and welcoming place for their guests to stay and we are looking forward to going back soon hopefully. Eagle House is absolutely stunning and is even better than it looks on the photographs! The history of the place is so interesting and well worth reading in the included detailed information file - the history adds to the experience of staying there. Helen and Andy have thought of everything for the people staying there, with so many thoughtful extras, which really made a difference. The bedroom was very large, warm, and well furnished, with 2 lovely chairs (with blankets) by the window and a table (plugs near by). The sheets, duvet cover and pillows were all top quality and a delight to experience. The en-suite was fantastic - as with the bedroom, it was immaculately clean. It had a very large shower cubicle, with an excellent shower head and a really easy to use temperature control. The products were really good and extensive - I really didn't expect to have use of such lovely items. As a finishing touch, the high quality towels were really thick and looked brand new. l was only able to stay one night this time and as I needed to leave early, I didn't have time for what looked to be an excellent breakfast. I would have loved to stay longer and highly recommend Eagle House.

A really homely house, feeling the warmth as soon as you enter the spectacular hall. The room itself was very cosy, and having had a good sleep in the cosy bed went downstairs to the library where there was a choice of fruit croissant, yogurt, followed by a hearty breakfast, they had other options including vegetarian. The history of the house is fabulous, and you can clearly see the love of the house from Helen and Andy. Would definitely return when in the area. Would highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Eagle House. The bnb is in a beautiful old building with an interesting history. There was a Large comfy bed, a fantastic breakfast with lots of choice and friendly staff. For what you get, it’s a bargain and we will be back. Great location, only a short walk into the centre of the village.

An excellent venue conveniently located to rest overnight on journeys from Scotland or the Lake District to the South of England or stay longer and enjoy the area. Clean and very thoughtfully and comfortably appointed with friendly welcome and good range of fresh breakfast food.

Lovely B&B, very welcoming (great biscuits in the room with plenty of tea and coffee and real milk in the mini-fridge). Comfortable bed, very good shower. Lots of places to eat within walking distance in town. Highly recommend this and would stay again.
