The Majestic Hotel

Generally good location and services! Just the shower temperature is a bit unstable.

After reading descriptions of the hotel we expected at least semi-luxury, but OHHHHH were we dissapointed. The room we were allocated was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable, but there ends anything nice we can say. The windows were painted shut. and were so dirty on the outside that the so called 'sea view' we were promised was all but hidden. The heating was permanently on which was nice for a few minutes when you got in from the cold, but the rest of the time made it very uncomfortable. One of the power sockets near the window was literally hanging off so we couldn't use it without fear of being electrocuted. The shower was built for midgets as it couldn't be raised any higher than 4ft, so we did a lot of crouching to get under the flow, and the side of the bath was hanging off at one end. We left the card outside asking for the room to be cleaned and new towels etc. - this was ignored so after 4 nights the bin was overflowing. Now, the worst thing of all - we had paid extra for breakfasts, so went down on the first morning in anticipation of a nice fry up. After sitting at our table for half an hour and not seeing any staff, I had to go and find somebody to take our order. I asked for sausages, fried eggs, beans and hash browns. My wife struggled to get the waiter to understand that she wanted scrambled eggs on toast so she ended up just saying that she would have the same as me. Another 10 minutes later we received our breakfasts, which consisted of 1 sausage, 1 hashbrown, 1 VERY undercooked runny fried egg with the consistency of snot and a spoon full of lukewarm beans. I tried to eat it but left most of it (see pictures) so the remaining mornings we went out early and had wonderful breakfasts elsewhere. We couldn't get a refund for the room so we had to just grin and bare it, otherwise we would have left on the first day and found somewhere much nicer. Luckily at least the weather was fairly nice each day so we spent our time out at Hastings, Rye and Dungeness, only using the room to sleep in. If we could give less than 1/5 for the score we would!

The hotel and the staff easily surpassed our expectations. We arrived an hour early and thought we'd check in our bags and go for a walk etc. We were pleasantly surprised when we were offered our room and an hour early. The room was very recently decorated and very big and clean The staff, the 5 we met, were delightful and super quick to respond to a small problem we had with a window. The food was served with a smile. The breakfast we both had during our two-night stay was very good and excellent VFM. The hotel will provide if required local councilparking permits at 2.20p for 24-hour parking on the seafront roads. In our view, the hotel staff made us feel very welcome and in our opinion, they were genuinely nice people. We both strongly recommend the Majestic Hotel Thanks to all staff at the hotel for making our stay very pleasant.

Shocking 40th wedding anniversary no electric sockets in our room. So kettle was no use to us.just one mug on tea tray. Dirty shower and outdated cubicle. Meal was OK bottle of wine not chilled. Straight of the shelf. No ice cubes staff not a clue.and that's if u could find one. Faulty towers comes to mind. Would we return a big 👎

Lovely hotel with good entertainment on, nice bar area , comfortable clean bedroom,welcoming staff especially linsey on reception who resolved our little problem within minuets ,only one thing heating was too warm for us , but we are from the north 😃

It puzzles me when people go on holiday, have a break away from home, they always moan? Your own bed & food are always best, let's agree on that!? My motto is; ( this is for Majestic, rates out of 10 given below.) * You arrive, you are greeted? 10/10. We were welcomed by Robert. * Your room.? Small, but clean. Ok, the odd dodgy damp patch in the bathroom. 6/10. * Evening meal/ Breakfast.? I would say, a wide choice. Food cooked well, portions well presented. ( I have to add, if you are expecting, "eat as much as you can, before you reach the 5000 calorie intake" ) is NOT the case. 10/10 * General staff? Friendly, polite, a real credit to the hotel. 15/10!! ( Thank-you Kerry! ) Jist is, you go away to have some fun? Do it & stop moaning. If you want/ need to moan,do it at the hotel.They will put it right.?
