Staying in the Premier Inn next door, we took dinner. Service was friendly and perfectly OK. Food was pretty ordinary. Prawn cocktail better than average. Salt and pepper squid cooked properly, but in “old” oil that left a smell/taste. This unfortunately was true of the fish, cooked on the same old oil. Mushy peas were very dry and not very good. Chsicken and ham pie a bit overdone so the pastry was rather hard on the fringes. Puddings ok. We ate everything as we hadn’t eaten all day, but left thinking that with a bit more attention to detail the food might have been more appealing. The heating went off part way through our meal - you could tell as it rapidly got colder. We also had breakfast. In contrast to dinner, the food was excellent.
