Ive been a returning customer at Invercarse hotel since the 1970’s . A recent visit for lunch was indeed an eye opener and sadly my opinion is that the hotel is now sadly in decline. The lunch menu was strangely lacking in choice, eg : no steak pie , no chicken main course etc and so I had the “ Haddock “ and chips. The “ Haddock “ was almost tasteless and the fish meat was a bit dark in colour which made me wonder if it was in fact Haddock or perhaps substituted with something like Pollack instead. It was probably frozen as it did not taste remotely fresh. I know the difference having been an angler since the 60’s. The restaurant staff were a bit on the rough side for a hotel of this nature but I suspect they are only paid minimum wage and you get what you pay for. I left feeling unappetised and my partner felt unwell not long after the meal and so we will never return . I’m informed that the hotel changed hands a couple of years ago but the change hasn’t been for the better, unfortunately
