Carrickdale Hotel & Spa

To start with the positives, the staff were excellent, very kind, friendly. Nice big room for 4 of us staying overnight. Fridge and safe in room. Excellent. Super Gluten free options for breakfast. Evening Meal was delicious. Hot tub was great. Then on the other hand, 4 of us checked into room, 2 dressing gowns in room. Had to ring reception for more to be dropped off. Heat in room way too high. Couldn't regulate temperature. Window on 3rd floor didn't open much. Had to ring reception again for fan to be dropped in. Walk to leisure centre from our room was lengthy. Went to swimming pool, thought it was a bit small particularly when there's a lot of kids there. Steam room, sauna were tiny. When we got back to the room, realised the only large towels we had were from the swimming pool visit so used these for showering. Pillows were so uncomfortable. Was up during the night cause couldn't sleep with the heat and the uncomfortable pillows. Overall the potential for a great place but could be so much more if it was thought out a little better. We weren't asked when checking out if everything was ok, hence why I'm putting it all here.

I went with my wife and two kids for a 2 night Easter break with dinner. My wife had said the food was great and the pool was lovely. To be honest, it wasn't the worse and wasn't the best I'd stayed in. On the plus side, the family room was large and there were power sockets beside the bed. It was all clean and they serviced the room each day. On the negative side, the TV was tiny.. probably the smallest LG TV you could get which is not what you want in a family room to entertain the kids. When we looked out of our room window there was a lovely view of the mountains only to be spoiled by a litter bin directly outside our window. (403) There was also a silverfish insect that came from under the bathroom sink cabinet. The food was good but the dining room was uncomfortably warm, to the point we just wanted to finish our meal and get out. I had been waiting a while for my 2nd glass of wine and was ready to write it off when it arriving with desert. We didn't eat there the second night. The swimming pool was a decent size and a good portion of it was shallow for kids. On our second day the pool was packed full of families although it was mid-term break. The staff were attentive and we were able to get room service for our fussy eater son on the second night. Overall... not the worst and not the best I've been in for that price range. But since the Carrickdale is in the middle of nowhere, I would've preferred to go to "La Mon" up nearer Belfast. It didn't quite live up to my wife's hype about it. Also, check-in is only at 4pm. I think that might be the latest check-in time I've ever had for a hotel.

Finally recovered from the most amazing weekend at our wedding at the Carrickdale Hotel. I cannot thank Amy and all the staff for their support and professionalism over the entire weekend and all our planning. Nothing was too much an ask and all my guests have been raving about how much fun they had the beautiful food and how well fed they were. My only complaint now is that it is all over but me, my husband and lots of of family and friends all looking forward to returning again soon as it is such a family friendly hotel. Thank you again for giving us the best weekend that I’m sure we will be talking about for a long time. All our love Daniel & Fiona Johnston

We got married last August in the carrickdale hotel and had the most amazing day from start to finish. Breda was an amazing wedding co ordinator and made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. Amazing food and service. Could not fault anything it was perfect !

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights with my wife and 2 young kids. We loved our stay. The staff were so nice and friendly and so accommodating from the reception desk, bar staff, leisure centre etc. The food was top notch , ate in both the bar and the Carrick restaurant for dinner. The breakfast was tasty too. We also loved the leiusre centre where my kids had great fun in the pool area. Myself and my wife loved it too especially the outside jacuzzi. As a guest I was also able to partake in the gym classes such as spinning which was great way to start a morning. The weekend weather was great so we were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens for a stroll too. Highly recommend this hotel for a couple or a family stay.

I got married at the Carrickdale Hotel on Saturday 15th March 2025. The staff were absolutely amazing and nothing was ever a bother, they were so friendly and polite. Our wedding coordinator, Laura was outstanding she went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect and it really was. Our day would not have been the same without her. All our guests had a brilliant time and everything went so smoothly. The gardens were perfect for our photographs. I would definitely recommend future brides and grooms to get married here. We will definitely be back to stay there and enjoy the lovely spa!
