Hamilton House

Fabulous stay at Hamilton House for 2 nights in March 2025. Lovely hosts who met me on arrival and carried my suitcase to my room. Lovely spacious room and very clean. Comfortable bed for a great nights sleep. Breakfast was brilliant freshly cooked and lovely filtered coffee. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful week’s stay. Very spacious and clean room, lovely breakfast room with an area where you can relax, rather than staying in your room, excellent housekeeping. Brilliant breakfasts, with lots of choice and great produce. Fantastic hosts who were very attentive. Safe private parking. Highly recommend this property.

Just home after the loveliest experience! Just a hop, skip and a jump from Dalscone Farm, (under 30 min safe walk on pavement all the way) which was my destination for several days... and best breakfast ever to start my days! And Hamilton House is a lovely leisurely walk to the River Nith, where I got fish and chips to bring back to my room. Thank you Rena and Derek for making me feel so very welcome... and for putting me in touch with Mark at DumfriesTours who took me on an amazing 5 hr whistlestop tour around the area on my last day, delivering me to the train station to head to Glasgow. Beautiful house, nice comfortable room with all you need. The location is easy to find and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the town. Very comfortable bed. Good safe parking behind the house. We had a very friendly welcome from the owner Derek, nothing was a problem. Breakfast was fresh and very tasty, gave us a good start to the day.

Stayed one night en route elsewhere in Scotland. A nice place with very accommodating staff. Easy to find, clean and well presented. On site parking. Had a ground floor twin room. Allowed us to use the dining room for evening take away. Good breakfast. Does exactly what it says!

A great place that is convenient travel wise to the town of Dumfries. Great location. We were greeted by Derek the property owner, who was very accommodating, helped us with our baggage, sorted us into the room, information on the workings, of key access, also gave us a choice of restaurants for choice of your mood or budget for dinner. Lovely, large ground floor room, very clean and all yo need. No pressure on what time we could do breakfast, at this seasonal time said”whenever you are ready to come down” obviously no need to come early after a long drive of 6.45hours drive that day but at around 9.30am” very civilized. I read reviews on TripAdvisor before booking and liked the overall raing We had a lovely full cooked breakfast, with great service from we presumed his Wife. Overall, lovely stay, great location, worth for value of money to what you get, plus the lovely human element on top.
