Poor Service Overshadows Good Breakfast
My stay at Hyatt Place Dubai/Al Rigga was deeply disappointing due to several service failures, though the breakfast was a positive exception.
The problems began immediately upon my late-night arrival at 11 PM after a long flight. Despite having clear confirmation of my booked twin bed room with pool view and balcony, I was given a standard room instead. When I contacted reception to resolve this, staff member Bisika responded in an unprofessional and rude manner. She repeatedly insisted their system showed a standard room booking without properly checking or offering solutions. Only after my persistent requests did she check again, then claimed no pool-view rooms were available and suggested I contact Trip.com instead of taking responsibility.
While Trip.com's customer service tried to help, by 12:30 AM it was clear I wouldn't get the room I paid for. The complete lack of empathy or apology from the front desk staff was particularly disappointing.
The standard room had several issues:
- An unusually narrow bathtub with a shower curtain that constantly clung due to poor design
- Extremely strong shower pressure that made washing uncomfortable
The one positive aspect was the breakfast service, which featured a dedicated barista preparing fresh lattes and coffee to order. However, this single good feature couldn't compensate for the poor front desk service and room problems.
Overall, this was my worst experience at a Hyatt property. While the breakfast was good, the combination of booking errors, unprofessional staff behavior, and poor room design make it difficult to recommend this hotel when there are better options available in Dubai.
Rating: 2/5 - Only recommended if breakfast is your top priority and you don't expect good service.
