The Winnock Hotel

Beautiful hotel and very friendly staff. Excellent food and service. Day trip were good value as was the all inclusive meals and drinks Excellent value for money Stay was very good and hotel was beautiful and clean. Would highly recommend this trip!!

We travelled through Storm Eowyn for Burns Weekend and only arrived at 7.30pm on a Friday evening delayed due to many road closures, so it was straight into evening dinner. Due to the storm on our first evening we had short power cuts and the water was off, luckily the Winnock has its own backup generator. On the Saturday after the storm The Winnock lived up to expectations and was as good as our previous visit. Our room was a family suite with a double and single bed, nicely decorated with good furnishings it had an En-suite bathroom with both bath and shower. Beware of the heated towel rail! Ours was very very hot. The bed was large and comfortable. The great thing about this hotel is the excellent quality and presentation of the food. Because they had over 100 guests staying and staff shortages the service in the restaurant was slow at times. We were on an all inclusive board so there was plenty wine served with dinner and drinks in the bar later. The entertainment was again Scottish themed with Music and Scottish Dancing and on the second night some Scottish history and demonstration of 17th century weapons. On Burns night prior to the entertainment we had the ceremony of Addressing the Haggis with the famous Robbie Burns poem enacted, The hotel is lovely and cosy on cold winters nights. What was a little disappointing is that they didn’t have the log fire burning on this visit. The hotel hospitality was very good considering the storm on day of arrival. On our day trips the hotel kindly provided us with packed lunches consisting of 2 Sandwiches, Crisps, a Cereal Bar and Cartoned Drink a lovely touch. One problem we had on our last night was the fire alarm going off at about 5.30am, after about 30 seconds it stopped. This happened a further 3 or 4 times, you don’t know if these are real emergencies or just false alarms. We are already considering the Winnock for Twixmas this year. On departure we were all presented with a Hot Toddy, a nice finishing touch. We would recommend the Winnock if you want something traditionally Scottish that is warm and welcoming,

I stayed midweek in May paying £105 room only, and found this hotel very pleasant with modern rooms and bathrooms complementing the cosy lounge and Merlin restaurant. Although my room (No.7) wasn't huge, they had found space for wardrobe, desk and chair, easy chair and chest of drawers - everything you'd need including plenty of power points. The bathroom was clean and modern with walk-in shower with rain-shower head with a good flow of hot water which was appreciated. I found the matress comfortable, windows opened for fresh air and the WiFi was good enough for streaming YouTube. When I was staying, the Merlin restaurant was offering 2 course prix fixe at £22 and three course at £27. However, I found the choices a bit humdrum and went for the Ptarmigan Bar menu which was much more extensive. The food was served promptly (this was around 6pm) and was enjoyable as was the well kept beer. Staf The hotel is popular without tourists and bus parties, however these large groups are catered for in their own dining rooms. There's no lift so don't be shy about asking for help with cases, also there's much more parking to the rear of the hotel. Staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. All in all I enjoyed my stay, this is certainly my preferred hotel of those in Drymen.

The rooms themselves are perfectly acceptable but the bathroom could do with a total refurb. The breakfasts were ok but fresh fruit and pastries would be a welcome addition. The dinners were very good quality. The service at both breakfast and dinner could be improved and speeded up. The bar was expensive.

Great wee overnighter to the Winnock one of our favourite places, big shout out to Angela Scott thanks for making our stay extra special ❤️, dinner was fab, excellent service right down to the fire in the lounge area - we shall return soon for sure

After staying in the Buchanan Arms in January, we decided after a fab overnight staff we would go back . Unfortunately it was fully booked . So we decided to book The Winnock Hotel. After reading reviews I was a little skeptical . However I thought ok it's only one night ! What a surprise, staff at reception on arrival were lovely, we were directed to room 10 . The room was spotless modern and definitely no foisty smell we dumped bags and went to meet friends in bar had food which was lovely . In morning we had breakfast again it was lovely. Can't fault anything in this hotel , will definitely be back.
