Ibis Douala

I'm not aware of any other hotel chains with a presence in Douala besides Ibis where I stayed 2 nights. It was a bad experience before I even arrived. I e-mailed them to arrange the complimentary airport transfer and was met with radio silence. It was only after I reached out to Accor Customer Service and much follow-up that Ibis Douala finally responded to me. (Kudos to Accor Customer Service!) After I got to my room, I noticed a pesticide smell but I put it off as something that would go away but it didn't and was affecting my sleep so I went to reception to enquire about the odour at which point the attendant referred me to a piece of paper on the bench which mentioned that the hotel was undergoing hygiene treatment on the 2 days I was there - this was the first time I was shown this notice! They changed my room to another one - on the same floor - because the air con in my initial room couldn't be turned off, but the smell of pesticide remained but they said it was the same throughout the hotel. Luckily, the odour was less pungent on my second night - which makes me wonder why they couldn't have either 1. scheduled the treatment outside of the Christmas busy period or 2. timed the treatment so that certain floors were treated on the first day and the remaining floors the next day so that guests can stay on floors less affected by the odour - which may be harmful to one's health! The hotel room was tired and dated with dull green coloured tiles on the bathroom floor. Also, the hot water tap needs to be turned on for at least 10 minutes before there is any hot water. There was no variety to the buffet breakfast - it was the same everyday. On the plus side, the hotel is within 20 minutes walk of 2 supermarkets.

Been staying at the Ibis since mid 90s originally not through choice but now I stay through choice. The rooms used to have great firm mattresses, not anymore, like bed topping on a divan, showers to choices scalding hot or cold. The food, what to say, terrible, local fresh ingredients transformed in to chicken, fish and beef that resemble jerky and have a similar taste to Michelins finest, same menu for weeks on end. Seriously book in but eat out.. Why stay there?, Friendliest most helpful staff I've run across ever, most have worked there for years and years., Makes up for the multitude deficiencies.

Good environment, nice food, the waitress and waiters are good, the rooms are very conducive, I would love to come back again with my family and friends from Nigeria, I love the Ndule native Cameroon food.

Oh had a wonderful stay at the ibis ...superb bed .. all I ever wanted to do was come to my room n sleep in my bed ...breakfast was great ..pick up drop to n from hotel was good ...n well there's a swimming pool ....also if u want to get ur covid test done just ask the receptionist n the Dr will come to ur room n get ur test done n results will be receive by afternoon..so yeeiii I don't have to work too hard ....also the fumigation was done n the place sanitized so yes safe n happily back home

I have a good stay. It is my favourite hotel to stay in Cameroon. Staff very friendly from reception till the restaurant, ready to assist you. The best part tailored solutions to your special needs, for example, i m a Nigerian, I miss my country. The chef is wonderful. I asked for my country soup egusi and ebay and it was well prepared for me.

Appreciate my stay especially the airport shuttle, ISIS was great while getting customers feedback thank you and I I recommend to any one coming in Douala you want a nice place choose ibis Douala you will enjoy
