Waterlovers Beach Resort

The hotel is beautiful and special in every detail. From the door nobs in the room to the pool lounge. Good food for small bites as well as dinner. The staff is fantastic, without exception! Always smiling and nice with an incredible attention to making your stay perfect! Special thanks and recognition to Julius, Lilian, Harrison and Abdalla, with outstanding service at the bar and at the restaurant.

Waterlovers is stunning, set slightly elevated on Diani beach. There are 8 cottages each named after animals, each containing a wooden sculpture and artwork. We had Hippo. There is a family cottage and penthouse. The hotel is at the end of a bump track. The staff here are all super friendly and given the small nature quickly learn names, and drinks. The bedroom is comfortable with a large four posted bed which is so high they provide a step to climb up. The air conditioning is effective. If we were to improve the room we would provide bedside lamps as the room is either lit by the main light, or the side lights which can’t be controlled from the bed! We had a problem with the hot water and didn’t have any for two days. We initially thought it had run out, but after 2 days we reported it and Grace didn’t finish her shift until the problem was fixed. Grace also organised for my wife to go to a local fabric shop. We also organised the glass bottom boat trip and the sunset boat/bush baby through the hotel. We were half board (stayed 6 nights) and were pretty bored of the menu by the end of the week. The portions were large, but not very consistent. You could order the same meal on different days and it would be wildly different. Overall the quality was good and the portions huge. They did a lobster special one lunchtime which we loved! Breakfast is self service buffet with eggs to order. To improve the hotel need to label items better. Non dairy milk is labelled, but the pastries are not. One day it was spinach, and I assumed it would be the following day – it was chicken. The cheese/ham and yogurts need to be (somehow) kept cooler. Afternoon tea and biting’s were nice if you ever needed to fill a gap. We normally took the opportunity to get out the sun. We did eat in the hotel next door and the Havana bar for pizza. It was so hot, and there is quite a lot of hassle on the main strip we couldn’t be bothered to go out more. The staff all asked us if we would return and they are of course aware of the beach boys. You cannot step off the hotel steps onto the beach without being approached by the hawkers. The beach is stunning however it is a no go zone. They are persistent, they will shout up from the beach they will follow you up and down, if you sit on the sand the will sit with you. At one stage we counted 30 around one family! It is relentless! We ended up getting to watch the sunrise and going for a swim then when it was quiet. This isn’t the fault of the hotel, they have little/no control over the beach but guests need to be prepared if visiting any hotel on this beach. Check out is (as usual 11) but there is a day room behind the bar to store bags and change with a shower. (the shower was cold – refreshing but not that useful before a journey) A hair dryer can be provided for this room if required. Overall we loved the hotel and staff, we loved the view and looking at the beach and it was a great end to our trip.

No words can explain the perfection there since first minutes you arrived to Waterlovers. Starting from people from the staff - everybody is a friend here, I loved our chats around. Service is exceptional everywhere you are: management desk, restaurant, bar, beach. You feel like in paradise, so relaxing atmosphere because staff takes care of you in so professional way! Here special thanks to Suliman, Ali, Jaquiline, Lilianne, Harrison - you are such a great people and you made our experience in Waterlovers so special to remember not only place but especially about the people making this place so stunning.:) And Hassan :) - such a special thanks for all our huddles gossiping on monkeys in the resort - you really make friendship environment which is really unique! See you again friend as we will definitely come back;) Beach - just beautiful and safe to swim Rooms - we have water view and villa, both just 10/10:) Villa is fun as monkeys are nearby and this was for us like natual zoo - this is out of world experience to see Colobus monkeys in front of your door Food - Oh! The Chief is a magician, the meals deserve Michelin star for sure there! Bravo!

Waterlovers is a true piece of paradise. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had the most wonderful stay. The staff are AMAZING! They are so friendly & helpful & make you feel special. Whether it is some banter over breakfast or just chatting over a cocktail, they really do make you feel like you are surrounded by friends. The resort itself is beautiful. The rooms are magnificent with wonderful decor and huge bathrooms. The design of the resort makes it feel secluded and peaceful. There is a lovely pool and plenty of sun loungers. The food is also excellent. Breakfast is a wonderful choice of fresh fruits, freshly baked breads and pastries with homemade jams and granola. There is a cooked option too which is fantastic. Lunch and evening menus are also great with a good choice including local fresh ingredients. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary & the chef made us a cake to celebrate. It was so delicious and we shared it with all the staff as it was huge! Waterlovers is the place you dream of and it really does live up to what you hope it will be. The sand is white, the sun is warm and the Kenyan hospitality just makes everyone feel happy! We had such an idyllic stay & would go back in a heartbeat!

Boutique hotel with an excellent location and beautiful views of the sea. Peter, Frank and all the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Snorkelling on the reef was a highlight but also got to enjoy some treatments in the Spa. We will definitely return.

Small and quaint, great service, and all the amenities we needed for a few days to relax after safari. Rooms are well appointed, everything is very close as there are only 5 or 6 cottages. Lillian at the bar was always there with a smile, water was beautiful (except for a bit of seaweed which was dissipating by the time we left), and food was great.
