Waidroka was exactly what I was looking for - beautiful, peaceful views, yummy food, a lovely mangrove tour, diving and freediving, and free yoga. The yoga was honestly the best guided yoga I've ever had, and I walked away feeling refreshed and ready to start a very busy month. Stay at this location if you're looking for the seclusion of a beautiful rainforest and ocean views. The staff were amazing and I had lots of good conversations - the other guests were also lovely to chat with. I'd stay here again any time!

My wife and I stayed at Waidroka Bay Resort for some quality time together, surfing, snorkeling, and just chilling. Our stay was even better than we expected. The staff were awesome—super friendly and always ready to help us out. Our surf guide, Tim, was a total legend, fun and really helpful. The food was amazing, with a great variety of healthy and tasty options. We loved hanging out for Happy Hour on the porch and having meals 'family style' with the staff and other guests. If you're not into those big "5 Star" resorts and want an adventure spot with surfing, diving, and snorkeling, this is definitely the place to be.

+ Very nice staff + Good food + Close to Beqa Lagoon and shark diving - Lack of focus on safety on the dive boat. The dive ladder was not attached right. I saw this on our first dive and mentioned it to the captain and the passengers. Unfortunately, somebody from my group still got her finger crushed in the ladder. It turned out to be fractured and caused her to faint from the pain. However, there was no concern from the Waidroka management or assistance regarding receiving medical attention. They just told her to ice it. I later learned from somebody on the staff that a previous guest had lost a finger at that ladder.

My wife and I started our journey to Fiji here to surf and dive on our honeymoon, and we are so happy we did. Coming here depends on what you are looking for in a vacation - we love adventure (surfing, diving, fishing) all of which was provided and exceeded our expectations Diving - Jamie and Grant are so fun to go out in the water with, extremely knowledgeable about the area and all the species. The reefs are like something you see on TV, untouched and so healthy with incredible marine life. The shark dive is a MUST and they will make sure you feel comfortable the entire time. Surf- Tim knows all the waves like the back of his hand. Depending on swell direction, wind, tide, he will make sure you find a wave. he will give you all the tools you need to get incredible waves. He will put you in the perfect take off spots, and take you surfing as much as your heart desires or your arms can handle. The man has decades of stories to tell from his own adventures so make sure to get to know him even if you’re not there to surf. Broader staff - everyone is amazing. It truly is a family there and when you are there the local staff, resort managers, owner (Boris), boat captains will make you feel like a part of their family. Every night after a day of activities we all sit down for family dinner, play pool, drink beers, chat for hours. Waidroka is like a mini paradise in the jungle, empty surf line ups, pure tranquility. The resort is designed to fully detach from one’s busy life and truly live in the moment. We have nothing bad to say about the place and can’t wait to return. - Andrew and Monica, NYC, June 2024

Very friendly staff and other guests remote location but lots of activities, including diving and surfing and snorkeling. Food from the resort is pricy so recommend buying some snacks to skip some meals if on a budget. Room I stayed was basic but had everything I needed and was spacious there was a mini fridge in room to keep my snacks. Pool is good, though I didn’t go he diving sounded great and has been highly recommended.

The surfing team is amazing. We spent one morning surfing with them and had an absolute blast. The surfing sites are not accessible by swim. Therefore, Jim, the very nice boat captain, drove us to site. The waves were up to the Fiji expectations : stunning. Tim and Justine took great care of us, giving out advices and taking beautiful pictures of us. Only thing is, I wound not advise this place if it’s your very first time on a board. Though, I am still a beginner and I was just fine ;)

My girlfriend and I had an 8 night stay in mid-december, staying in the panoramic view rooms. While the colour scheme was a a little out of date, the rooms were clean, comfortable and had superb aircon! The legendary Fijian hospitality did not disappoint, and the staff were extremely accomodating of any of our requests. They even surprised us with a romantic couples dinner poolside! In terms of surfing, we were a little unlucky with respect to conditions, although this is partly to be expected in the wet season. While we didn’t score the big barreling waves I’d been having dreams/nightmares about, I still enjoyed super fun waves in crystal clear, azure blue, bath warm water and almost no crowd. The only true downside in terms of surfing was that my girlfriend wasn’t able to learn to surf; this is partially because the waves were a little unfriendly for beginners, but also because there were no longboards or foamies for hire at the resort. I would suggest anyone looking to learn to surf at Waidroka bring their own board, and either bring their own coach or come with some prior experience. It is definitely more of an intermediate to advanced surfing destination. We chose to pay for surf boat trips as we went rather than book a package with one trip daily included. I can highly recommend this approach in the surfing off-season/when travelling with non-surfers, as it took away the pressure to surf everyday. In terms of other activities at the resort, we had an awesome time snorkelling, and enjoyed the daily yoga classes. There are also several external tours that the resort can book for you, from which we enjoyed the Navua river tubing! If I visited again I would have liked to kayak to one of the white sandy beaches just down the coast from the resort. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Waidroka and appreciated the personalised service and the beautiful nature!

Our stay at Waidroka Bay Resort was excellent. The staff are warm and welcoming, the resort facilities comfortable, and the diving is outstanding. The shark dive is a ‘must do’ but the rest of the dive sites are equally as interesting, with a great mix of hard and soft corals, wall dives, a local wreck, and varying currents—not to mention the great visibility (June). The resort is nestled between the Coral Coast barrier reef and the lush rainforest of Viti Levu. It is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Nadi’s tourist strip and provides a genuine escape for those who want to immerse themselves in the area’s pristine scuba diving and reputedly world class surf breaks (diver, not a surfer). Over the last 19 years, the resort’s owner, Boris, has cultivated a delightful eden amidst the rainforest. The resort blends in beautifully to its surrounds and provides a comfortable and relaxing base for days of adventure. The main building is home to the restaurant, bar and reception, and perches over the pool and relaxing open air bures. The accommodation is a blend of beach front bures dotted amongst the gardens and palm trees with additional rooms available up the hill with panoramic views over the coastline. The dive shop is a well run, clean and organised affair. Gary and Ciara run a tight ship and are exceptionally professional, experienced and passionate. The rental equipment is in excellent condition (if not brand new) and the dive boat is spacious—quite useful noting most dive days will be 2-3 dives out on the reef with surface intervals done on the boat (or on some occasions, nearby island). Ciara is an excellent instructor, having taken one of us through the PADI Advanced Open Water course, and quickly adapted her style to the student’s capabilities. Gary, also an instructor, was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. His demeanour underwater is calm and he led the small group at a very balanced pace, regardless of conditions. The restaurant food is top notch. Fresh, delicious meals with an uncommon attention to presentation. One of the evenings we had the pleasure of having a local fish stew, which was a stand out amongst many great meals.
