SpringHill Suites Lansing

Not what you would expect from a Marriott family. I realize management is doing best they can with the re-model but our room was not up to par. We have stayed in 10 different rooms traveling on vacation and this location had the lowest rating. The pictures online do not reflect the truth about this property. I knew we were in trouble when we arrived simply because of lack of landscaping

We love Marriotts, and have stayed at least 300 times at a Marriott property. Some of the reasons are that we are always made welcome, we know what to expect, almost always see a manager circulating out on the floor, and in a Marriott brand property, you can open the windows, which is important to us. Our stays usually range 7-15 days, and so, we have lots of time to observe our surroundings. This Springhill Suites place was the worst Marriott that we have ever stayed at. I have never given ANY hotel less then 3 stars, but this one does not deserve even one. We had to go to Lansing for a funeral, and the area was totally unfamiliar to us. From studying street maps, I saw that this hotel was the closest to all the places we would need to be, also, it was a Marriott. We have been to a Springhill Suites brand twice before (in New Mexico and Arizona), and I gave those five stars, as they were great. The location of this hotel is excellent. We checked in, and the young Front Desk lady was very nice, however, from the empty parking lot, we could see that the hotel is not full, and yet, when I asked about the usual complimentary water bottles, I was told that they had run out. (Well, if you run out, it's up to the manager to make sure they are replenished, even if that means a trip to the corner store.) Before arriving in Lansing, we stayed at a Doubletree at the Grand Rapids Airport, as our flight arrived at 11 pm, and we did not want to make the drive in the dark in an unfamiliar rental car. At Hilton, we have no status, yet, at check in, we each received a small shopping bag, inside of which there were two bottles of bottled water, plus one large warm chocolate chip cookie, and this is at 11:30 at night! Yet, Springhill Suites had run out of water at around 4 pm? Our room was recently remodeled, and the color choices made us feel as if we were on 5th Avenue. Really very nicely redone by, obviously, a good interior specialist. The room was very clean. We tried to get the window open, and could not do it, so next morning, I asked for maintenance to come to help us open it, as we, always, sleep with open windows, and that is one of the reasons for choosing Marriotts. Most Hilton windows do not open. He arrived about 4 hours later, and, almost had to remove one glass panel to get it open. However, he did manage to open it, and it stayed open during our entire stay, which was great. Why in the world did they not prepare the windows to open and close when remodeling? Had it been done then, there would be no struggle now. We, always, get a King Size Bed, and sleep beautifully. Here, it seems that they refurbished the rooms, but did not change out the mattresses. Every night, we were bumping elbows and knees, which never happens. Then I realized that the sides of the mattress were lumpy, and thus, we kept drifting towards the center, and bumping into each other. There are no bars (grab or other) in the walk in shower, which was a surprise. I thought that

We had high hopes based on the 4.5 rating - but were disappointed. The room was spacious as expected at a Springhill Suites. They have a desk with a three piece sliding glass divider - the glass serves no purpose, it's up against a solid wall. Every time you walk by, the glass rattles. The hotel is well off I-69 so every room is quiet. When we arrived the elevator went up, but did not come back down. The hotel provided a phone to call the front desk to request they send the elevator up so we could bring our luggage down. Hopefully that will be a short term problem. The breakfast options were very limited - not up to par for a Marriott property. Very surprised with that. We opted to go to McDonald's down the road to have a better quality breakfast with selections. Our room was priced at $111 plus tax, which is very reasonable, all things considered. If management would address these issues, the property has a lot of potential.

I spent just one night here while passing through the area. The staff I interacted with were all very friendly and made some small talk with me. My room was spotlessly clean and the air conditioner was nice and quiet. My bed was comfortable and I had a nice sleep. Clean and quiet are the too most important things to me in a hotel, and this location hit those marks. The pool was nice. It was a good temperature and the pool area was clean. The hot tub was plenty hot, but the jets did not work. The breakfast was okay. Typical fare, enough to get you up and on the road. The hotel was easy to get to from the highway and there are a lot of amenities in the area (shopping, gas, and restaurants).

We went to Lansing. MI to help my ill brother. We needed an extended stay hotel and decided to try this Springhill Suites as we have stayed at a different one once before. We were so glad we did choose this one. We were there for almost two weeks and they made us feel like family which was nice as it's hard to have to stay at a hotel for that long. They are undergoing a major renovation so it was noisy in the lobby and lots of dust. But even with that we enjoyed being there. We were on the third floor and the room was nice, clean and spacious. And the housekeepers were very nice about keeping us supplied with towels, coffee cups, etc. The bed was a bit firm for us so because we were going to be there for a while we went and bought a mattress pad and that helped. Everyone there is so nice and friendly and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. A big thank you to Hassan, Katelyn, Alec, and Autumn who helped make a long hard trip a little more easy for us. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend this Springhill Suites to anyone who will be in this area even if for just one night. It's not on a main road but with GPS it's easy to find and totally worth it!

We have stayed here several times and it’s always a great stay. The staff is excellent, very friendly and efficient. Breakfast is okay for what it is - a “free” hotel breakfast. Beds are comfortable and the room is clean. Recommended. Fatima in the breakfast room was great. The hotel has undergone a remodel and they’ve done a nice job.

Poor customer service, confirmed reservation cancelled without prior notice. Staff lacks training. Poor management follow up and poor communication. Lousy property. Avoid at any cost. Tricking guests to pay for 2 nights when staying one night only.

We traveled as a couple - May 2023; this was a road trip sleep stop. The beds were comfortable; the room was quiet. Room was spacious; high ceilings. Breakfast was decent. Front desk staff were extremely friendly - thank you! This hotel is close to restaurant options (eg. Texas Roadhouse). We booked with points (we prepaid tax/fees a month in advance); additional email confirmation arrived the day before. Check-in was seamless upon arrival, although we did get a strange email from the manager (Joshua Ross) the morning of our arrival that our reservation would not be honored. We didn't see the message until later, so we never figured out what that was about. Sort of concerning, but it didn't end up impacting our stay. Other than that, great stop along the road.

The hotel was just ok. The lobby was clean. Breakfast was decent. Stains on carpet leading to bedroom, stain on shower curtain, ants in bathroom. Not as bad as some of the other reviews I read. Quiet.
