Aleli Cottages

The cottage was well kept and the view from the deck spectacular. It was much smaller than we expected for 3 adults—one room with the kitchen against one wall, the bed against the opposite wall and a couch squeezed in between, but the couch was comfortable and everything was functional. The kitchen is well-stocked with appliances, utensils and kitchenware. Beach chairs, coolers and towels were supplied, which was very convenient. Our first morning there, we woke up to no water due to a leak (apparently this has happened before), so we were unable to flush or wash up, but it was fixed by the time we returned from the coffee shop. The cottages are at the top of a steep incline, so a jeep is necessary for transporting luggage, but the view makes up for any extra cost. It was quiet (except for the ever-present roosters crowing at all hours) and peaceful, a bit isolated, but groceries and restaurants are just minutes away by car. We really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights in December of 2024. Pros: - Gorgeous location! - Comfortable room (I loved my little cottage; my traveling companion was less impressed with his -- be aware they are TINY) - They provide beach chairs, beach towels, and coolers -- everything you need for day trips to Culebra's many gorgeous beaches - My cottage had a fridge and coffee maker (though no coffee, one would have to bring their own), and note that you have to wash your dishes, if you use them, in the small bathroom sink Cons: - Website does not disclose the cottages are at the top of an extremely steep mountain (with poorly paved/maintained roads) - Terrible customer service -- extremely unhelpful when we needed some help with an emergency schedule change. We needed to check out a night early. We swallowed the cost of the extra night, and they still wanted to charge us a fee on top of that swallowed cost for a late checkout. Absurd. After many hours of back and forth we finally got them to drop this extra fee, but it took a while.They do not pick up the phone when you call and ask you instead to text them, but they aren't very helpful over text. When you do get them on the phone they're quite rude. - Towels not particularly clean - Our cottages had no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom; it's close to impossible not to get the entire bathroom wet after a shower - Their website "recommends" renting a Jeep from Carlos, without mentioning Carlos is the owner of Aleli, which feels quite scummy. Though this was a beautiful location, I would not stay here again.

I made a booking last week on the website for the second week of January. The confirmation was validated. Several days later I got a message telling me that my payment had not been validated after all. In the meantime our bank alerted us to a fraud : apparently the hotel Aleli was trying to charge our bank card without having the right to do so. We called the hotel who told us they had indeed made a mistake; we sent messages as well as screenshots of our bank and the booking contract which stipulates that only one night is charged to the card and not the whole stay. They never called us back nor even try to answer our last text messages. I travel a lot and have rarely been treated so badly. it's a big red flag here --- especially when someone takes money from their customer's wallet without warning them...and end in fraud bank alert

My husband and I returned from our stay at Aleli Cottages in Pica Flor, and loved it! I was surprised by the fact that it is more of a “condo” type stay vs “hotel”. They do not have shampoo/conditioner or body wash available so make sure to bring your own. The view from Pica Flor was amazing! The bed was nice and cozy. The room very clean. It’s definitely smaller than the pictures let on. The balcony bath tub was not very clean. The roosters and chickens were alway around and quite noisy!! you for sure need to rent a vehicle. We rented a jeep and we’re so thankful we did that instead of a golf cart. Many of the places we drove to would have been very hard with a golf cart. Overall our stay was fantastic and I would definitely recommend staying!

Our visit to Aleli Cottages and Culebra Island was pure heaven. The location of the cottages is up on a hillside overlooking the Caribbean Sea and Carlos Peña Cay. The view from our cottage "Tijeretas" was nothing less than spectacular. The cottages are beautifully designed with natural materials and blend perfectly into the environment. The mosaic tiles provide an artistic glow. The room was open and airy, the furnishings new and attractive, the bed was comfortable, the linens were fresh and the veranda was welcoming with a hammock, table and chairs. The room also provided beach chairs and beach towels which really came in handy. We rented a golf cart for our time on the island which did work, but due to the very steep hills, etc we will probably rent something more substantial next time. A vehicle is necessary for exploring and enjoying the restaurants in town. The resident birds, chickens and peacock were a delight! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
