Parc Royale Suites Hotel

We visited Cuenca, Ecuador in October 2021. Gran Colombia was our home away from home for two weeks. From the moment we entered this beautiful historic landmark, we were treated like family. Every member of the staff was professional and very accommodating. The penthouse suite was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our extended stay. The room included a private balcony with 360 degree views of Cuenca, separate bedroom/bathroom, comfortable bed, ample closet space, safe in closet, living room, kitchen (gas stove top, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, blender, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave) with small dining table. We also had access to the washer & dryer in common area with no additional charge. Everyone was so helpful and provided information about the city and provided recommendations for local experts (i.e. Visa, legal, transportation, tour guides, realtors, etc.). We are looking forward to returning again in the near future.

Gran Columbia Suites was fantastic! My boyfriend and I traveled to Cuenca for what many would call a "dental" vacation. I needed a crown. He required more work. Since I'd been to Cuenca once before, I had seen the Gran Columbia and knew it would fit our needs for a stay of at least 17 nights. We stayed in a Jr. Suite which had no windows to the outside streets but windows to the interior courtyard. It was very quiet. The suite had everything we needed: a kitchen with refrigerator, gas cooktop, sink and eating area. The living area was comprised of a sofa and entertainment center with television - which provided plenty of English language programs. The bathroom shower always provided plenty of hot water and the separate toilet area was surrounded by obscured glass. The bedroom had plenty of storage, a small safe and a comfortable bed. In a small area just off the lobby is a 2 washer, 2 dryer laundry. The machines are free to use for guests. While waiting in the lobby for your laundry to finish, step through a door to an adjacent panderia for pastries and coffee. Be sure to get there early as this panderia sells out quite quickly. It's that good! Besides the great proximity to Parque Calderon in the center of Cuenca's Historical district, probably the best thing about Gran Columbia Suites is the staff. We arrived late in the evening and were allowed entry by an on-duty security guard. I'm so sorry that I don't remember his name, Matteo assisted us with many of our needs, telephoning for taxi service, arranging for our trip and guide (Gustavo) to Ingapirca, arranging an appointment in Banos to Piedra de Agua for thermal baths and much more. Sophia was also another superb team member of Gran Columbia Suites. She also assisted with taxi service and helped us when needed. Isabel, the General Manager, has a great team. Her enthusiasm and love for the property is quite obvious. We will be returning in September and look forward to our stay in the beautiful city of Cuenca and seeing the same wonderful people at Gran Columbia Suites.

I wish this place existed when I first moved to Cuenca, spoke no Spanish, and knew absolutely nothing, It would have been a god sent residential hotel, located right in the center of Cuenca, with very helpful and knowledgeable bilingual staff, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, small kitchens equipped with all necessities. Well, nothing of the sort existed then, but, in April, 2023, I had to flee an apartment in hell and this is how I discovered how comfortable Gran Columbia Suites were. I stayed there from April 20, 2023 until August 6, 2023. Except for the first couple of days, I stayed in the suite #11 - a big suite on the 3rd floor. Great big bathroom, separate dressing room, a good size bedroom, living room and separate kichen space. The bathroom was cleaned every week and HOW!! They clean like this only in Germany and Swisszland, and in very expensive hotels in the USA. Thank you, dear Dorita for doing such great job, and always wil a smile, The Internet connection was mostly good, with a few interruptions. Many TV channels. Very comfortable bed and sofa, Nicely made, high quality furniture. I was less enthusiastic about the level of noise that carried up to the 3rd floor multiplied in volume. They had some problem with a bathroom fans I was awaken a few times with the staff calling me at night and knocking on my door at 3 am, demanding that I turn off the fan that was not on :) :) But that problem somehow resolved itself, I also disconnected the phone :) For Ecuador, the place is rather expensive, but it IS comfortable, The staff, all of them, including night guards and cleaning people, are very friendly, pleasant, and always helpful. The front desk staff and the manager are all fluently bilingual and are always ready to help. So, if you are coming to investigate Cuenca/Ecuador as your future residence, do yourself a favor and book a Gran Colombia Suite, The same goes for your first 1-3 months of life in Cuenca while you are looking for an apartment/house. I volunteered to teach English in Ecuador, after my retirement in the United States, at a well regarded school in Cuenca. Since I was not familiar with the country's apartment rental and property management conventions, I booked a one month stay at Gran Colombia Suites through *******. From the moment that I arrived, I realized that this was where I wanted to stay long term! The building was renovated in 2014 - so it satisfies (and exceeds!) USA guest standards. And the bilingual staff are exceptional! Furthermore, Gran Colombia Suites is conveniently located near Parque Calderón in the historic center of Cuenca.
