Best Western Plus the Croft Hotel

Nice hotel, stayed for just 1 night so probably not fair to judge completely but disappointing on check in as I waited at least 10 mins for check in when no one came I had to look for someone in the kitchen. A lovely lady came to help even though it looked like she was on her break. Thank you. Lovely room, very clean. Bathroom was so nice. Only realised the bin from the previous guest hadn't been emptied in the morning as I'd just literally gone to sleep as soon as I got there.

Saturday night at the Croft Spa. Dull ! There where more people in my front room.Bar staff ( except the young girl) have no communication skills whatsoever and totally lacking any personality and the night porter couldnt be more miserable if he tried. Whoever owns this hotel should be asking themselves why not one single person from Croft village uses this hotel bar. 🤔

Went for a wedding, the room was not cheap but we did have a family room. The fold out beds were not comfortable and the room 4 we had was loud noises through the night which the staff didn’t know or were able to help with. (Not really their fault but some maintenance would be needed.) The room was nice style from the 60s could do with an update. The other areas or the hotel were very nice just the rooms we saw maybe not quite worth the high price tag. We had a broken TV and the toilet flush takes 20 mins to be able to flush again! The down stairs area where the lobby, bar and restaurants are were the money was spent they look and feel great. (Try to get a room downstairs!!) We were there for a wedding which was handled great Richard the Mc was very present and knew how to host the service was great for the food and the venue (downstairs does look great!) Although check the bar prices for there are different prices at different bars? Little bit dodgy for a venue to try and change the wedding party (paying a lot for the venue anyway) even more for a beer (addiaitional £1.30 from one bar to another for a pint.) Overall great wedding venue!

Amazing room, I could move in here it’s that nice. I was here for one night, I ordered steak and chip it was average at best. I would eat out if I stayed here again. Deffo recommended the hotel grounds and rooms. Staff were nice and friendly. Plenty of parking.

Lovely place to stay, and what’s more, the people are genuinely lovely. I’d come again, cos it’s so relaxing. Parking is so easy with front and back, and it’s always sunny and never rains…..fact. It’s a lovely building too, I should know, I’ve perfectly parked in front of it.

We thought we would come back and we what the hotel was like after it had been renovated, this used to be our favourite place to visit and even got married here… I’m so disappointed with how the hotel atmosphere had changed. The previous staff and management had a warm and welcoming approach and would do anything to make your stay a good one…. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. We were greeted with miserable reception staff, I think one may have been the manager. I rang the week before we booked and enquired about sitting out in the new garden area and I was told as long as there was no event in this would be absolutely fine. On arrival I was asked and told no we couldn’t use it and I mentioned I’d rang and enquired, the young lady told me she was going to check and never got back to us. My wife took ill on our trip and I was informed room service was no longer available so I had to take the food up myself. Luckily a lady did help me. Callum as always was fantatstic and greeted us with a warm welcome when he seen us. The handy man was a lovely man and was happy to chat and tell us about all the new renovations, shame the reception staff didn’t have the same approach. The hotel is dirty and I don’t think the doors have been cleaned since our last visit. I think it’s safe to say we won’t be back

The Croft was easy enough to find and provides good and easy parking. The reception area is impressive and the staff helpful. I was disappointed with the room which i think was number 26? It was i think allegedly a twin single but no way could two people coexist it it. to sit on the chair at the desk i had to move one of the beds. The window was a sash type window but had no working pulley assistance, I lifted it open and wedged it open with two pieces of wood, but it was HEAVY. The bathroom was exellent and appeared reasonably new. It took nearly a week to get the soap dispenser refilled though. The food I thought was overpriced and the menu limited. Sunday roast Exellent, fish and chips awful, simply running with oil. Other meals receive an O.K. Breakfast starts at 07.00 which I consider to be a late breakfast, but in fairness no-one objected when I arrived early and helped myself to toast or cereals On the subject of breakfast a big thank you to Jane ( I think its Jane my memory is getting terrible ) who when she saw me provided a cheerful smile and willingly made me a cup of tea. My final comment the mobile phone signal is awful absolutely awful, I had to leave the hotel and walk across all the road to the church to send/receive messages.

We have stayed here a few times the last time just recently the room was nice the bed was very comfortable we had an evening meal there and the standard of food was really good the restaurant staff were very attentive pleasant and professional we had a nice evening the breakfast the next day also was of a good quality and standard with plenty choice I had scrambled egg and smoked salmon my fiancé had the cooked breakfast both were really good

In general only fair. The suite requires improved lighting and urgent repairs to shower tray. Restaurant and food were good.
