The Stone House Inn

Loved this historic Inn, located in a small town. They were very helpful getting us to see a different, less crowded area of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Very small town, breakfast across the street or next door. We had breakfast directly across the street both mornings we were there.

The Stone House makes a great base from which to explore the area around Crawford and is a 25 minute drive from the amazing North Rim, a definite must see! Lara and Nathan are excellent hosts and can provide all the information you need to go out and explore. The Stone House is super comfortable and the Stone Studio in particular has been fitted out to a high level. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the Crawford area.

This was the best-appointed room we have ever stayed in. The innkeeper thought of every detail. There is a good restaurant a cross the street. The area looks fun to explore which unfortunately we didn't have time to do. Highly recommend. We stayed in the King Bed room.

The Stone house was lovely! The amenities were exactly what we needed. The bedding was very comfortable. Loved the claw foot tub:) The porch rocking chairs were so relaxing. We highly recommend and hope to visit again!

This might be the most perfect inn/hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. It has a very nice combination of rustic feel and modern conveniences. Very comfortable bed, comfortable pillows. Modern plumbing, electrical outlets, refrigerator freezer (very quiet), Keurig coffeemaker, electric kettle with a nice selection of coffee and teas. Etcetera. The hosts obviously have taken great care to make it comfortable and to provide everything you might need for your stay. There's a pretty good restaurant across the street and a great coffee shop about 1/2 block away. Otherwise, Crawford doesn't have a lot to offer except location: close proximity to the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Crawford State Park (hiking and boating), and the cities Hotchkiss and Paonia with wider selections of restaurants and wineries. The room contains a helpful, well-written and extensive guide to restaurant and coffee shops and points of interest. The stone house inn is on the main street, aka CO 92, and the interior walls of the Stone House Inn are probably not as well insulated as some modern hotels. This results in some noise although traffic through town is supposed to be 25 mph, so it's not like a freeway out there. We didn't find the noise a deal breaker; your experience may vary.

On a 2 week Colorado tour - Sand Dunes, Black Canyon, Glenwood Springs, others and was surprised my favorite place to stay was this inn. It was unexpected. While I did see the claw foot tub in other reviews and is why I chose it, I still expected just a place to sleep. Instead we found all the touches listed in other reviews: frosty mugs, cookies, games to play, DVD to watch and yes that tub! 1st bath in 10 years...we are shower people. But, this type of tub has always been a dream of mine and we found it in this small little town. It was great complete with bubble bath and salts. My spa hotel didn't even go this level of detail. Yes, Joe Cocker lived here and he is a favorite. Had no idea. Overall, I would have stayed another night had I known. It was the most relaxed I had been on the trip. I also wanted to see if the cattle come through town every morning. Loved it! Parking right out front...Thank you for a great stay.
