The Woodvale

Saturday eve dinner with the family, over Christmas. Looks like an updated menu. The faggots were excellent and everyone else said their dinners were very good too. Friendly, efficient service. Well stocked bar. My only criticism is that it was way too cold. People were wearing scarves and coats. Heating was off and no roaring open fire. A big turn off for me I'm afraid Looking forward to a summer visit so I can enjoy the spectacular view, one of the best places to view a sunset on the IOW without being cold

We were pleasantly surprised by what this hotel has to offer: very helpful, welcoming and friendly staff, nice rooms, surprisingly quiet location, close to access to the beach and walking path, good views of the sea... a good restaurant, excellent breakfast.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, rooms nice and clean views absolutely stunning! Dinner was fabulous and the breakfast was the best I’ve had yet! Lovely produce and cooked to order!! Breakfast gentlemen Big guy very professional and the breakfast was cooked perfectly! Will definitely be back! Parking not great when busy though but that’s the trouble with having a beautiful Hotel/pub in this location

Lovely place, stunning location and views. However our experience was ruined by one particular barmaid who overcharged for two drinks and also embarrassed a young waitress by telling her off in front of customers. Very unprofessional behaviour on her part.

We had a great 3 night B&B at The Woodvale in Gurnard. The pub has great views over the Solent and is only a minute from the beach at Gurnard. Accommodation is clean and thoughtfully presented. Even the tea boat had decaf tea and coffee. Food and drink is very good indeed and the breakfast is superb. Call Nathan the Manager directly to get the best rate.

I visited The Woodvale whilst over on the island on a family weekend away. We went for a meal on the Sunday lunchtime on our way home. I ordered the roast beef Sunday dinner and can hands down say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had. Generous portion sizes and great value for money. I had to request for the beef to be well done as I am currently 7 months pregnant and it was cooked to perfection. I understand that currently there is no permanent head chef in the kitchen and one of the regular kitchen staff has stepped up in place and you would never have known. In my opinion you’ve already got the perfect kitchen team as I couldn’t fault the food! The food was so delicious, crispy but fluffy roasties, rich gravy, a great selection of veg, a generous portion of perfectly cooked meat (I had beef and others on the table had lamb), perfectly seasoned stuffing and a large homemade Yorkshire pudding to suck up all the juices. For dessert I chose the toffee apple pie, and when it arrived I was AMAZED by the size, it was huge! It was delicious and the vanilla custard just topped it off.. safe to say, I will definitely be heading back to The Woodvale on my next visit over to the Isle of Wight!
