Candlewood Suites Cotulla

3 of 5… This site is a basic extended stay hotel, mainly built for local oilfield and transients. Amenities on the room are available (full size fridge, dishwasher, kitchen supplies, coffee maker). Recliner in room. Issues with room: Soiled top comforter (looked like baby fecal matter), Sheets on bed appeared to have been slept in already, and the mattresses are sunken in. Only bathroom washcloth originally just looked dingy, however upon use was stained with either oil or mud/dirt. Non-smoking room had a strong smell of smoke in the room. Required sleeping the entire night with a window open, running the HVAC unit fan (not using AC compressor), running the bathroom ventilation fan, and needing to purchase Febreze spray and a glade plug in to manage the smell. Every fabric item in the room (carpet, curtains, bedspread and frames, and shower curtain had a foul odor). Hotel was not accommodating in the room issue or adjusting a group reservation to an individual person. Concerns raised again at checkout were dismissed. Additionally, IHG customer service line was unable to assist with folio issue, referring back to the hotel, who originally could not assist and referred the concern to IHG. Just know what to expect at this facility. This was business travel and a facility I would not stay at again.
