Yugo Amnis House

Evite venir aquí si no tiene el sueño profundo. Mi novia y yo vinimos aquí para una larga visita de fin de semana a Cork. Desgraciadamente, esto ocurrió al mismo tiempo que un grupo de muchachos ruidosos con los que nos habían alojado en el mismo apartamento. Me resultó difícil conciliar el sueño debido a los constantes portazos y gritos. Afortunadamente se habían ido el lunes, así que pude dormir. Las habitaciones son buenas, con una vista brillante del arroyo y las instalaciones de la cocina están limpias. El personal también es muy amable, son solo los muchachos del grupo los que lo arruinaron un poco.

We travelled from New Zealand with other family to attend our grandson's wedding in Ireland. All of us then joined them on the "honeymoon" a trip around Southern Ireland. Our accommodation in Cork was Amnis House a student hostel for Cork University. There were 7 of us and we had an apartment complex with four bedrooms, each with en-suite plus a kitchen/dining/lounge area. The rooms were an adequate size with fresh, clean linen and towels. The location was good, right near a bus stop. There is no carpark which was a bit of a nuisance but they did have an agreement with a close-by car park which we used for a discounted rate. We found reception very good and there was no trouble replacing teas, coffees, toiletries etc.

Stayed on the 3rd floor of one of the blocks, in a double room. The room itself was ok I guess but the managers have skimped on the most basic things - such as a wastepaper bin and hangers in the wardrobe. In addition, the lift was broken and we weren't warned on checking in. The room is in a shared 'apartment' with a lounge/kitchen area which is really poorly equipped with just one glass and one cup amongst up to 12 people. In addition, the furniture was really dirty and stained. In general, the people on reception were pleasant but the place is clearly under-staffed. I asked for cups and glasses three times and they never arrived. I asked to borrow an iron twice - staff couldn't find one. I mentioned heavy bags and asked when the lift would be fixed - probably not before you check out I was told, with no offer of help. So in short - ok for school tours but if you're an adult and want somewhere with even a very basic level of service (such as to be able to drink from a cup or hang up clothes), I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.
