I stayed here several times previously when it was a Staybridge Suites. But the change in affiliation coincides with a complete renovation and other changes, so time for another review. We stayed 5 nights over Christmas to visit family nearby, so the hotel had few guests (based on the parking lot) most nights and was quiet. The changes are mostly positive. Our room (the smallest type of unit, dubbed studio suite) was fully renovated; so are all public areas. It was attractive and modern, very clean since newly renovated. The bed linens are above average, and the bed was new and really comfortable (but see below). Mechanicals worked correctly. There is a full kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, and cooktop, with enough dishware and utensils for two people (and some pots and bowls). A full size refrigerator was a great convenience. Internet was on the slow side but worked properly once you log in. Although I read some complaints about staff in other reviews, everyone I encountered was really nice, cheerful and easy to deal with, and made me feel welcome, including when I made a few extra requests. Negatives: there were a bunch of little annoyances which together added up to knocking one star off. *The bed was full size, not the advertised queen size. * If you want bar soap (as opposed to pump liquids), you have to ask the front desk for it. * The attractive new window blinds were installed backwards: the room darkening shades are hidden behind the thin drapes that admit light, which means closing the former when the latter are closed (which is most of the time) is a complicated operation. The thin drapes should have been closer to the window. * Also the shades were installed over the HVAC unit so it blows into the shades, not the room. I used a piece of sheet metal someone left behind from the renovation to hold the shades on the window sill behind the blower (the iron would also work for this). * The bathroom is attractive but small; the renovation was limited of course by the existing structure. The shower-bath is the old small size, but clean with a neat adjustable shower head. * Small closet, though tons of drawer space. *On a one-off, the locked side entrance door was broken (wouldn't latch securely and thus a security risk) the first four of the five nights we were there. *Finally, when it was a Staybridge Suites there was a really good extensive free breakfast; that is gone. All these things are little but they could be annoying. But I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. And the price is reasonable for a large city.

TLDR- big rooms, older bath with short shower, very minimal housekeeping, nothing special about breakfast, don’t bother downloading the app. Pros- We were excited to find a hotel for a decent price that had room for all 5 of us! The two double beds plus a pull out couch was great! We also appreciated the sink & bar fridge. Bathroom- There have been some updates to the hotel over the years, but the shower heads are not one of them! At 5’9”, I was taller than the shower head, and it wasn’t detachable to use as a hand shower. The toilet also flushed like a jet engine that shook the floor of the whole room. Housekeeping- At check-in, we were told that housekeeping would only be coming every other day. This was disappointing, but I was glad they told me ahead of time. Unfortunately, what ended up happening is we had absolutely no housekeeping for the entire week we were there (and we left the room every day for outings). I finally asked if someone could at least come empty garbage’s, which happened the day before we left. Breakfast- The hotel had two trays for hot dishes, and these were consistently quite basic, with scrambled eggs in one & bacon or breakfast sausages in the other. There were no sweet pastries, just the normal toast & english muffins. There was also no pancakes or waffles… my kids were a bit disappointed. App- As the day of the trip was nearing, I started getting emails about an App the hotel uses to receive room requests & can be used as a room key. I was intrigued & set everyone up on the app, only to be dismissed at check in, being told this specific hotel doesn’t use the app. Overall, I left this hotel disappointed. I searched & searched, and could not find any email addresses to send this review to hotel management, so I have been forced to post publicly & hope they will read it here. I think, next time, I will find another hotel that has a better bathroom, something special for the kid’s breakfast, and regular housekeeping.

I’m picky and this place was great. Start to finish, top to bottom. Happy pleasant staff. Everything is new. All the details have been thought of. It was quiet, clean, comfy, the tv was massive, cute starter stuff for coffee and tea, sponge, room was best I’ve ever been in. And there is a nice pool that was a happy place and useful for some basics. Didn’t use the half court basketball but could have. Breakfast was great-hot breakfast and cereals and oatmeal ..there is a waffle maker though didn’t use it. Space was well organized and varied. Loved the oat milk creamer option. Loved the comfy bed. Window treatments were clever and felt fresh. Aldi and hyvee within short walking distance. Starbucks etc. Would add maybe coasters at bedside tables because drinks leave a mark- we used paper towel. And maybe a tiny dish soap for hand washing so to save water on running whole dishwasher. Otherwise perfect.
