Some of the best customer service we've ever experienced. Ms. Abe was wonderful and her English was excellent. The outdoor onsen was perfect, truly beautiful. A big, well landscaped area, truly relaxing. All guests get to reserve 30 minutes of private use each evening, which was wonderful, but you can also go back during men's time, women's time, or mixed if you want to enjoy some more. The breakfast was also very good, and the room was sizeable. This was our favourite stay in Japan.

Excellent location next to ski lift at Sun Valley. 3 mins walk to the local bus station with buses going to Nagano Station direct (express service) or Yudanaka station.
Room and bath room (2 basins and 1 sink) are spacious - we had 3 futons and 2 single beds for our family of 5. They may be a little dated but very clean. Room has a view to outside snowy forest during our time.
Highlights of our stay:
Half board meals - authentic Japanese! Big portions and lots of pretty and dishes served! Free coffee everyday in late afternoon.
Service was impeccable - the front desk lady (very friendly and excellent service disposition) , and the elderly folks who served in the restaurant - thumbs up!

La estación de Yudanaka me ha permitido llamar a mi teléfono celular, pero no pude llamar, así que pude solicitar un servicio de recogida con la ayuda del personal de la estación. From the moment you enter Kokuya Ryokan, be prepared to leave the real world behind and fully immerse yourself in the experience. You swap your shoes for slippers at the door and don’t see them again until you leave. You will receive a warm welcome from polite and gentle-mannered staff, get taken up to your beautiful room, and once you’ve changed into your traditional yukata, it’s time to let the relaxation begin. The multi-course dinner will probably be one of the best meals you’ve had in your life, with many unusual textures and flavors to try. The futons are comfortable, and your room is kept toasty warm. There are even skincare products to keep you pampered and moisturized between soaks in the onsen. Honestly, you won’t even need to open your suitcase while you’re there.
The staff will take you through all the logistics when you arrive, but there are some things that might be useful to know in advance.
- The ryokan sends a shuttle to Yudanaka station at about 15:00 to collect new arrivals, so time your journey to take advantage of this benefit.
- The ryokan also offers guests the opportunity to catch a shuttle to the Snow Monkey Park immediately after breakfast the next morning.
- After you leave the ryokan, they will take your luggage down to the coffee shop opposite the station, so you don’t need to worry about those logistics.
- Trains from Yudanaka back to Nagano leave at 12:30 and 15:30.
- The ryokan itself has several private onsens that you can reserve for a 45-minute slot. Because the onsens are on the property, you can go in with your partner or travel companions regardless of gender. It’s a boutique hotel, so you don’t have to worry about not getting access to all the onsens you want.
- The ryokan is on the main road of the Shibu Onsen town. The hotel will give you a key so you can wonder down the main road, visiting any of the public onsens you wish - however, with so many gorgeous and more private onsens in the hotel itself, you probably won’t have time or the desire for this.
- Also, there is a coffee machine in the room! (I was worried about having to survive without coffee, and this turned out to be an unfounded concern).
We had an incredible and totally indulgent time at Kokuya. Experiencing a traditional ryokan is a privilege that you should try at least once if you can. And adding the Snow Monkeys in give the trip a double purpose, making it that much more memorable. The only thing that would have made the trip better is if we had been allowed to linger longer over every course of our dinner.

AAVNN HolidayMy stay at this ryokan in Shibu Onsen was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was impeccable. The ryokan features private onsen that can be booked in advance, offering an intimate and serene experience. Soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing at the surrounding natural beauty was a highlight of the trip.
The ryokan’s free shuttle service made exploring the area incredibly convenient. We were easily transported to the iconic Snow Monkey Park, the nearby train station, and other local attractions, which added to the seamless experience.
The dining experience was nothing short of spectacular. Both private breakfast and dinner were served in a tranquil setting, with beautifully prepared dishes showcasing the best of seasonal and local ingredients. The flavors were authentic and delicious,

UUsuario invitadoLocated just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!

The place is super grand and 2 onsens. A Instagram worthy one that the males and females get to use it at different timings. The shower stuff in the onsen are mediocre though. No fancy facial stuff for women unlike some other onsens at this price range.
We had breakfast and dinner for the 2 nights. And well worth it. But you have to follow a fixed timing and we felt a bit rushed but otherwise it was really great and service perfect.
We had one the biggest rooms I believe Room 716. Had a sitting area and also a sleeping area. Easily fits 8 persons. We were only 2. In the day they kept the futons and brought it out at night. Towels changed every night.
There is a van that goes straight to Mount Yokoteyama ski resort. The receptionist didn't seem to know about it but you could try to Google. It was a complimentary ride to and fro if you bought the lift tickets. Took only like 30 mins to get there. You can get rentals at hotels there.

SShenhu zhenchengLas instalaciones tienen un sentido de historia, pero están bien mantenidas y no te molestan en absoluto. La comida es superior al precio y estoy muy satisfecho. La ubicación está un poco alejada del centro, pero está a unos 10 minutos caminando, así que no me molesta. Al contrario, es un lugar relajante y con aparcamiento. Es fácil y estoy satisfecho. Las aguas termales cuentan con un baño interior que puedes utilizar durante todo el día. El baño al aire libre se puede reservar para uso privado sin coste adicional. Me gustaría quedarme allí de nuevo si tengo la oportunidad.

UUsuario anónimoThe location is perfect!! Just at the bus stop. But if you are skiing somewhere at Okushiga, better take the earlier buses. It was so crowded by the time it got to our stop we could not get up.
Our room had a view of the mountains so we were really happy waking up to a winter scene. Room was huge so easily fit 4 pax.
Breakfast was functional but that area really had not much food around so better to eat at the hotel. For dinners the food trucks are just opposite so really convenient. Also some shabu shabu places opposite the hotel as well as a yamazaki store and yakiniku too.
There was a rental shop at hotel but really basic. Don't expect too much.
The bath was also average only. Nothing fancy. The place has no body lotion so be aware!

Es un esquí en y fuera y muy convenientemente situado cerca de la parada de autobús del valle del sol, que ayuda si viaja con equipaje. El Sr. Tokutake, que maneja el pequeño hotel, fue muy amable y nos permitió obtener rápidamente nuestro equipo de esquí. La cena y el desayuno fueron deliciosos y después de un largo día de esquí, fue maravilloso ahogar en el ron que aparentemente está lleno de agua de primavera natural. La habitación está bien calentada y hay máquinas de venta por debajo de la escalera para obtener bebidas, así como una pequeña tienda de conveniencia para obtener nueces instantáneas, helado y snacks.
Así feliz con mi experiencia allí :) el equipo era gracioso, hospitalario y no podíamos haber pedido nada más.

PPangYo venía de Hong Kong, pero no me quedé en este hotel. Al principio había reservado una casa de vacaciones japonesas Villa Ichinose, pero recibí un correo de identificación tres días antes de la salida, diciendo que debido al problema de la máquina de la habitación, sería necesario cambiar a otro hotel llamado el hotel Shiga Mount Zhijiang. Viví en el hotel con una habitación de maíz sin cuchara. Fui a esquiar todo el día, tuve que sentarme en la cama de la tierra. Necesito una cuchara adicional para que me convenza más. Me sorprendió cuando abriéndome la puerta de la cuchara y la cuchara, saqué una cuchara. La boca es sucia, todo con la boca amarilla y el cabello amarillo.
