AAA Northlands Motel

We came across this option for weekend accommodation when there was a major event on in the city, and virtually all of the city was booked out. That said - no wonder this motel still had a vacancy. Here is a constructive list of areas that we urge the motel owners to focus on: * Read the information regularly that is coming through on the booking sites - in this instance, we had requested a downstairs room with an accessible bathroom (such was the photographs linked to the type of room we had purchased on the booking site). We heard nothing. Zero communication. To our astonishment, on arrival, the motel was fully let. They had not recognised our confirmed booking. We were starting to get worried as there were minimal other accommodation options available in the city. The staff were able to scrounge a room for us off someone else - however, it was an upstairs room. * Main points to stress were about the lack of attention to detail around the room's amenities: (1) Stairwell and handrails were filthy, (2) Curtains were not fully attached to the tracks, (3) Microwave keypad and digital display was no longer fully functional, (4) no toaster, (5) no drinking glasses - they did not have any to supply when we made the request, (6) some lights were missing bulbs and lightshades, (7) there was no electrical plug close to the vanity unit in the bathroom, (8) the toilet seat was well and truly out of alignment and requires adjustment, (9) room is generally in need of maintenance / freshening up. On the positive side, the host was obliging and attended to our requests wherever possible. The room was serviced in a professional and thorough way. In summary - only select this hotel if you would be tolerant of the aforementioned points. We would certain not recommend it.
