I stayed at the Travelodge in Chertsey because it’s only about a five-minute drive from Thorpe Park, which was the main reason for my trip. It’s definitely a good alternative to Thorpe Park’s own hotel, especially if you’re trying to avoid paying their high prices. I was in Room 306. It was your typical Travelodge room — simple but usually reliable. There were tea and coffee-making facilities, plus hot chocolate and a couple of KitKats, which was a nice touch. The towels were clean, and there was hand soap available. I didn’t check the shower gel since I brought my own shampoo from the Aldi just a short walk away from the hotel. The toilet had some issues flushing, but after a few tries it would work. What really let the room down was the state of the surfaces. All of the bedside shelves felt weirdly slimy, almost like someone had spilled lubricant or something equally unpleasant. It wasn’t just the shelves either — the light switches, radiator knobs, and aircon dials all felt the same way. Honestly, it made me a bit uneasy thinking about what the room might’ve been used for before my stay. The aircon unit was also covered in dust, clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Just felt a bit neglected overall. When I first checked in, there was a mix-up and I was accidentally given a keycard to a room that was already occupied. Not ideal, but to be fair, the staff sorted it out quickly and professionally. If they had properly cleaned the shelves, switches, and dials, I probably wouldn’t have had any major complaints. The bedding and towels were fine, and the room itself was decent for the price. As it stands, it’s a typical Travelodge — you know what you’re getting. I’d just like to see a bit more attention paid to cleanliness beyond the basics. I might stay again, but only if I know the surfaces were actually wiped down between guests.

I spent a couple of nights here as I was attending a wedding at Botley's Mansion nearby. The building is very simple and what you'd expect from a Travelodge. Having read other reviews, I thought the room would be dirtier and whilst not spotless clean it was acceptable. The shower was the least clean. Bit of a musty smell in the corridor. The rooms itself was alright, had a tv and a comfortable bed, the sheets seemed clean. When I stayed it was quiet and I didn't have any issues with noise coming from outside or within the hotel. There is no bar or restaurant area which is a shame but there are a big Sainsbury's and Aldi round the corner and you can grab breakfast there. Overall ok for a short stay.
