The receptionist took a while to check my passport (I have a normal residence permit so no idea what was going on), asked the date I arrived in China last year and the port of entry, and further asked my wife via WeChat when we were in the room whether I had a photo of my old passport with the entry visa. . Not sure why this hotel plays border agency but this was clearly out of their remit and that of their local safety bureau or whatever, and I complained to trip.com too. The 3 other hotel bookings in Chengdu weren't problematic, nor any in China in 1.5 years for that matter.
On the bedsit table there were some ear plugs - for the noise at night due to construction works nearby (not past 0:30 though).
The rooftop area outside is nice to be fair, and the TV is large.
I thought of extending the booking, but my wife objected, pointing to the bad smell from the self-clean toilet. Paradoxically, by experience I noticed that those ones are the worst in terms of cleanliness, and now I'd rather just have normal toilets.
