Just returned from a gorgeous stay at Channels hotel for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We stayed in Willow and its so cute. Great amenities! So many plug sockets and lights facing the mirror in the bathroom.. make up never looked so good!! Gorgeous fluffy towels and probably one of if not the best hotel bed weve ever slept in. Super clean too. Guys thank you for being so welcoming and spoiling us! Petals on the bed, congratulations message and chocolates, so sweet. We cant wait to come back and spend a bit more time in the gardens and exploring its such a lovely place. Staff are a credit to you too. Take care, the Coriglianos

Absolutely stunning place, very friendly staff. Me and the other Blazin Squad boys stayed here while doing the Essex podcast festival and I was super impressed with the service. The rooms very clean.. The food was fantastic quality and would 100% recommend!

Had a wonderful peaceful stay. The price was reasonable. The room was comfortable and quite cosy. Kind and lovely staff. Immaculately clean and tidy. Enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast. Will most definitely book to stay another night or two.

We stayed at Channels Hotel last weekend for a family wedding, and it was the perfect, relaxing escape. The green spaces around the hotel are beautiful and really added to the peaceful atmosphere. After the crazy wedding celebrations, it was wonderful to unwind in the tub of a stunning bathroom. The whole place felt so tranquil, and it was exactly what we needed to recharge. Highly recommend Channels for anyone looking for a peaceful stay with a touch of luxury!

"We have been strongly disappointed by the service of Channels Hotel. When we arrive on the 1st evening, around 10pm, no one was at the reception and we did not see anyone around. Only the room key with one note with the code of the room was written. The Aspen Suite was not in the hotel, but close to the brasserie. There was no explanation and we had to go around for 15 minutes to find the right place. We were with all our luggage and my fiancee is pregnant. The trip was not finished: we discovered that a long stair was to be climbed. You will find the picture hereafter. No elevator and no service to help. By accident, one of our luggage fell down and could hurt my fiancee. One window pane was broken. 10 minutes after, someone from the hotel finally came to knock at our door. Our surprise that he had no inquiry about us if we were hurt, but wanted to know how come the window pane was broken. Then, the hotel charged us 50 pounds for the broken pane. A second issue happened during our stay. On the 2nd day, we forgot the key of the hotel at a pub 15 minutes from the hotel. As we had a wedding, we could not get back the key on the same day. On the 2nd day, the reception told us that they had to go and take the key at the restaurant. It is most probably the restaurant which brought back the key, as we did not have time to mention the name of the restaurant. We wanted to go & get back the key on the 2nd day. But the hotel already charged an other 50 Pounds for bringing back the key. And strangely our room has never be done during our stay. I can assure you that we will never come back to such 4 stars hotel with calamitous service and only blaming their clients."

Have now stayed twice in July in a shared room with my daughter, who is also my business colleague. On our first visit we were upgraded to the Maple Suite, where the bed was divided into two twin beds which were comfy - hard but not too hard. The room was spacious, had a bath, the air con worked well and it was quiet, convenient and well equipped. My daughter /colleague has severe asthma and we were able to open the window and have the air con on in between. Everything about the room was good - no quibbles here, good value for money and everything went well. However, our next stay 29/30 July 2024 proved less positive - we stayed in the Poplar Room. Again, the beds were divided into twins, but this was another experience entirely! The mattresses were hard and bouncy, narrow and uncomfortable. The air con was impossible to switch off from both fanning and cool air, so it was either on, which drove me mad due to the noise and fanning motion, or off, and my daugther had an asthma attack from the heat. Needless to say we had a very bad nights sleep which is absolutely not the point of staying in a business hotel to get to a destination early for work the next day in a rested and positive state. So, my summary of the great points of the Channels Lodge, staying Monday nights in Summer 2024 on a business trip to Chelmsford for 2 people are: 1) Good car parking not far from your room 2) Efficient internet 3) On site bistro with the best ever waiter/ server Dan. Its worth staying just to have his funny style of customer service. Food is good, fresh and not overpriced. Small selection of food and drinks but perfectly chosen, and you can eat in the lovely quiet courtyard in the summer 4) Both the Maple Suite and the Poplar Room have good baths (particularly Poplar), with fresh towelling robes and loads of products and fluffy towels 5) Each stay we had an amazing breakfast which we chose as a takeway on stay 1 and on stay 2 we had delivered freshly to our room at no charge by the amazing Dan! 6) Lovely fields outside in a safe environment for walks 7) Quiet, no noise from roads and the whole estate felt very safe as female guests Less good points: The air con situation in Poplar. This might be us misreading instructions, but it was a sleep depriving experience and I would not want to repeat that so will probably have to pay for a suite, which is annoying as we are staying for the next 10 weeks The main restaurant is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays Horrible uncomfy beds in Poplar The use of a health club/ non on site gym: Looks good on the offer for Channels Lodge, but you will have to drive 20 minutes into the town centre of Chelmsford to use the Nuffield Gym or pool, after having been had to go to or phone the Reception team at Channels for permission. Its not relaxing to have to drive out of your venue, negotiate the one way traffic system in Chelmsford, just to get to that nominated gym and then drive back. Also, one of the lovely things about

Excellent place to stay, the rooms are furnished to a very high standard and the owner and staff are really helpful and professional. Breakfast was also excellent! Overall a great place to stay - we only had one night but I'm sure it's a great place for a longer stay too.

Channels lodge is a perfect hotel for all occasions. I work away a lot for work and always find the staff very friendly and always accommodating. There is a restaurant that offers very good food and the breakfast is fantastic. I would high recommend this hotel.
