Oddfellows on the Park

I discovered this hidden gem by accident. I had almost given up on finding a hotel that was close enough to the airport as well as to local shopping and had ac. There are only two things I have a problem with in regards to this place. Please note there is not an elevator or lift as the UK states. The other draw back is there is no way to shield the light in the bathroom area. It is hard to describe. There is a beautiful glass door to the right and left in the bath area with a sink in the middle of the space. If one has to get up to use the facilities the light being turned on glares in the face of the other one in bed. One other note is to be careful when closing the glass door. When I closed the door, my finger got closed in the door and it actually cut my finger below the cuticle. After 3 days, my finger is blue and sore. While the hotel is directly under the local airport's flight pattern, we never heard planes unless we were outside. The grounds are astounding as is the building itself. Make sure to check out the artwork throughout the place. If you like hidden staircases, watch out. The place appears to be kid friendly. There is a fabulous playground adjacent to the property. Make sure to purchase duck food for the locals. The bar, while somewhat limited in its offerings, was suitable for us. As to cost, the prices were comparable if not better than other bars/pubs we have visited.. We did not dine in the restaurant, but from what I say, the food looked amazing. The young man working reception was so very nice to help with our luggage as well as anything else we may have needed. The young ladies working in the bar were also very nice. In fact, they were so embarrassed by my asking to take their photo. They said no one had ever asked to take their photo.

In the area one morning so stopped by for breakfast. Lovely building on first impressions. Lady attending to tables was very pleasant in dining room. Menu had options from £12 - 20. I opted for the £20 breakfast. This included cereal (not bothered), toast etc. Not a good spread auxiliary to the breakfast options, e.g. no fruit / yogurt etc. Coffee was dreadful. Sorry, you need address this. Coffee should be ground - not some weak muck in a teapot. Aside from that, food was nice. Service good. Nice backdrop. Small things let it down as stated.

Beautiful building in a lovely setting with great service and friendly staff. Communal areas and restaurant are lovely. Let down by the bedroom which was a Club Room, it was dusty, tired and had stains on walls and carpet. TV, windowledge and glass shelves were thick with dust and room clearly hadn't been vacuumed. Warning that the bathroom does't have a door. Just a glass door to the toilet which gives very little privacy....you can hear everything and there is no ventilation. White blind on the window is thin which lets the sun in early so could really do with curtains. Large bed super comfortable.

Lovely hotel which is comfortable, quirky and cool. Great attention to every little detail. Loved my room. Extremely comfortable bed and a waterful shower that for once actually felt like a waterfall rather than a stream! Great service, staff couldn't have been any more attentive and helpful. The food was very good. Limited parking, which is why I awarded 4 stars.

We had a pleasant one night stay. We found the staff friendly and helpful. Not entirely sure why we were given an accessible room no 11 but it was ok. It was clean and well decorated and if we needed an accessible room I dare say we would be delighted with the decor and facilities. We did think the pillows could have been improved on and a cookie with the coffee would have been a nice touch. We paid £150 for the stay including the breakfast. We ate in the restaurant twice once for dinner and once for breakfast. The food was well cooked and the service on both occasions very attentive. The acid test would we go back again it is a resounding yes if in the area.

The property itself was lovely and has huge potential. The cleaning was not up to standard, a lot of the staircases were dirty and all the tables at dinner had food underneath them from lunch. The dining chairs were covered in hair. I also couldn’t use my in-room coffee machine because the water tank had dead flies in it. The hotel also quoted us a fine of £180 plus the new room cost to amend the date of the stay. I understand that not all hotels are big enough to offer flexibility but as we are a charity it left a bit of a sadness around the stay. The bar area was beautiful and receptionist was very helpful.

we had a wonderful oval weekend here, you live in the lovely English countryside, like a noble in a castle, in the middle of a park, and everything is right, breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner and great wines (although we missed a more precise wine list that also tells you the year and producer and not only says which vineyard in Burgundy the wine comes from, also somewhat high prices for the wine) Wine is taken seriously and there were large glass wine cabinets in the restaurant. Great big room with a view. The place is recommended.

Stayed in one of the suites - decent hotel and close to Manchester Airport. Room clean, lots of room, plenty of weird features which make it interesting. Very powerful shower and good complimentary toiletries. Welcoming reception staff. Overall, a good hotel.
