This was our first France camping experience. We stayed in a Roan cabin, the service we got from them both before, the price and onsite was super - we will go with them again. We stayed in a premium cabin, it had air con, 3 bedrooms (1 king size, 4 single beds), fridge, freezer, hob, kettle, plenty of pots and pans (no cheese grater or peeler though), a separate toilet and shower, seating area inside and outside and a large covered area. We were in 431 and were under the trees which meant we stayed cool the whole time. The campsite is big enough, but not scary big for our family and friends (4 adults and 4 kids 7/10/13/13). The site is mostly used by families from the Netherlands, a few from Germany and I think there were 2 other families from the UK. It didn’t matter to us - we quite liked it (so quiet!). The universal language was English, so the French, Dutch and German all spoke English to the staff and visa versa Top tips. 1. Things to take (it was our first time so ignore if you know this already!). Tea towel, washing up liquid, hand towel, bedding (roan charge for towels and bedding, we paid for towels but took bedding - we took a double sheet for the main bedroom, but it’s a king size!), bin bags, peeler. 2. They are not worried about swimwear! Everyone warned me that France only likes men to wear speedos and not swim shorts - not true here. My daughter wore a long sleeved UV safe sun top and knee length shorts and was fine (and not the only one!), lots of tops and shorts by girls and boys and men! 3. The pool is unsupervised either morning or afternoon, and when it is, it is enthusiastically done by a young teenager. 4. Washing clothes is easy, they have 5 washing machines (buy the token from reception €3.50) follow the instructions on the wall - easy to follow. The etiquette seems to be, put load on and put the empty bag on top in case it finished a before you are there - so the next person can empty your things into the bag and use it. 5. The lake is warmer than the pool and has loads of inflatables and paddle boards- everyone seems to be walking around with one! 6. Bar is nice, burger, chips, Ice cream- normal stuff. Big tele (we watched the olympics), pool table and games in the games area. We would definitely come back here. It has such a friendly vibe, a supermarket in both directions about 8 mins drive, petrol station and you have got to do the days kayaking down the river! It was amazing. €35 for a canoe for 3 of us and €25 for single ones. A bus takes you up the river and paddle down stream for about 3 hrs, 7 miles - but it was so easy and fun. You can stop off on the banks and paddle / swim in the river (lots had their lunch there). A great campsite with so much to offer, great staff and a hidden away in nature - a great find!
