I’m beginning this with a disclaimer that we booked this through Amex Travel. In France; it seems it shows up as being booked through *******. Any seasoned traveler knows this can mean difficulty in your travel due to their policies. We had a very difficult time finding this hotel when we were driving in. I don’t think we received the initial email that the hotel sends prior to arrival due to booking through Amex travel. We called and it took quite some time, but we finally found the little sign and the parking garage. Francesca did everything in her power to ensure we found the hotel including walking out in the cold and guiding us into the garage as she learned we were trying to be on time for a massage appointment. She quickly had someone gather our luggage and whisked us away to tell us all the important notes. Throughout our stay, she did our best to address the adversity we faced. The room was beautiful and the hotel is truly in the center of town near all restaurants. This seems good until you had an experience like we had. We returned to our room around 10pm and planned to have a restful night to be ready for our paragliding the next day. This was FAR from what happened. Being in the center of town means hearing ALL the people leave the bars. I initially called the reception around 12:15pm to ask if this was normal. The reception explained it was Thursday night, so this usually calmed down around 1:00am and he apologized. I again called at 2:00am because the noise CONTINUED and the reception said the police didn’t come and there was nothing that could be done about the noise. The last screen shot I took on my phone to properly notate how late it was that we couldn’t fall asleep due to noise was 3:15am. The next morning, we slept too late to have breakfast (again getting around 6 hours of sleep). The reception listened to our concerns but told us there was nothing they could do, they couldn’t move us as the hotel was fully booked. We were provided a set of earplugs and wished good luck for the coming night. Moving on to the second night, the noise wasn’t quite as bad but still loud. We stayed in Paris and it wasn’t as loud as it was in Chamonix. Essentially we were comped our parking fee and 2 beers. Truthfully, this doesn’t compensate for not resting 2 nights in a row in a 5 star hotel. This was THE hotel I was excited about for our trip. This was THE hotel I splurged on. This was THE place I was the most excited about for our trip and it turned out to be the worst stay. I am not an old person just being ornery. I am 29 years old, so when I say it was loud, I know I’m not exaggerating. If you want to REST during your stay, pick another location to stay at for $500/night or either require that they reserve your room for the river side of the hotel and it will hopefully be more quiet. When we return to Chamonix, we won’t stay here.
