The Inn at Ragged Edge

Beautiful ! I loved my large bath tub and had great homemade breakfast..The grounds are gorgeous &serene..The hosts do an awesome job !!It was my boyfriend 's first time visiting and he absolutely loved it as well..We look forward to making another trip!!

This B&B is a true treasure. The Victorian-era manor has been updated beautifully while retaining its historic charm. Our room was luxurious, comfortable and very clean. The whirlpool tub was such an amazing way to relax, and the plush, king sized bed was perfect. There is a nature path on property that we enjoyed immensely - full of blooming honeysuckle. Barb was so gracious and welcoming and was happy to chat and get to know us. Breakfast was homemade and served at 8:30am, which was perfect for me and my husband. It was delicious and beautifully presented. Some tips: Check out the website! Each room is unique with its own layout and amenities. The photos are accurate - in fact, I found the property to be even more impressive in person. This is not the right place for families with children under 6. Check-in between 3pm and 6pm and breakfast is at 8:30am. If that sounds good, you'll love this beautiful inn! I know we'll be back.

The bones of this building are fantastic and the view is out of this world. The room we stayed in needed a little work. The chair had both arms badly frayed and the love seat, when you sat in it, you about sank to the floor. The bath tub had a constant drip and the toilet was very difficult to flush. The transom with light coming in from the hallway was a little bothersome when trying to sleep. The wrap around porch is very fun to sit on and the breakfast is out of this world.

Don;t let the neighborhood fool you, this inn has a gorgeous, streamside property in a residential neighborhood, only five minutes from everything Chambersburg has to offer. The house is grand, the patios and covered porches inviting and the grounds definitely deserve to be explored. The rooms are comfortaable and the snack room open all night is a great convenience. Breakfast was wonderful, served in a room steeped in history. The innkeepers were knowledgeable about the Inn, the town, restaurants and activities and available when needed. The room was large with a bonus, a kitchen and steam shower that were unexpected. Plenty of blankets, gorgeous gardens, and so peaceful.

We stayed on the third floor. Huge staircase, no help getting bags up and down. Unless you're young, strong and energetic, choose a first floor. Room was large and attractive. Shower was barely large enough for one person (and I'm small). They provided the smallest piece of soap I have ever seen and a tiny shampoo and conditioner that is not enough for 2 for one night. Wall air conditioner does not work, instead there was a portable unit that was so loud you could not sleep with it on. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was mediocre compared to other B&Bs and being served at 8:30 only is not for the guests who want relaxation. I have some food restrictions and was told I could not be accommodated. Luckily, I travel with my own food but had difficulty just getting a bowel I could put it in.

The Inn has an interesting history and has been beautifully restored, however the host is not welcoming and is downright unpleasant. She does not greet with a welcome smile, but rather told us in a stony faced manner, all of things that we could NOT do. The ambiance of the home is similar to that of a funeral home, and could certainly use some light, music and life - but we were told that they are not "child friendly" and she did not want us to hold a quiet and small family gathering in one of the sitting rooms. It was raining very hard when we arrived and we pulled up to the front porch on the drive, and left the car there while we waited for the downpour to pass, which displeased the host as well. The breakfast was equally as unpleasant, and she didn't turn on the living room lights, so we ate a tasteless egg casserole in the gloom. We definitely would NOT recommend this place, unless you like funeral parlours.
