The staff at Patio Lodge were very friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Our Horseback ride for 1.5 hours on the Lusitano Trail was a fantastic experience. As beginners, the ride was appropriately tailored to our level of skill. Our guide Durlav was excellent, providing training and guidance along the journey as needed. He shared interesting insights about the island and its history throughout the ride. Would definitely recommend!

Riding and guide were perfect, but I won’t stay again. Booked into a mini cabin off site which was full of cockroaches. Moved to a great room the next day but not refunded for the horrible Night of the Cockroaches. The included dinner was pretty bad. Staff fantastic though.

I booked an all-inclusive trip to Azores with WWE, which was hosted at Patio Lodge. Angelique is the BEST hostess, an absolute treasure at Patio. She ensured our activities were coordinated on time and accompanied our group on several lovely adventures around the island. The focus of the trip was horseback riding, and you will not find better scenery in the world to explore on horseback. Be honest about your riding ability, as the Lusitano horses are fast moving and the trail guides need an accurate gauge on rider ability before matching you with a horse and trail plan. Don't miss the caldeira hike around the rim of the volcano. Thanks to Angelique and the courteous staff at Patio, I've fallen in love with the island of Faial and hope to return someday.

This lodge is in a stunning location on the island immerse yourself in nature. We loved seeing the horses and the lovely Labrador. You can see a baby horse bonding with her mother. We came at the start of their season. We are a couple wanting a romantic adventure. The downside to staying here is that the staff is turning over and the food and service was a disappointment. We had to tell the staff to bring us utensils and the challenge was their English was limited . The meal I had was overcooked and was not editable. The coffee was cold and staff did not how to work the machine there needs to be training with staff . As new guests the owner should of introduced himself and checked in re how the stay was going . The rooms are clean but for a couple pulling two single beds together does not make for a romantic evening the mattress was not comfortable and the pillowswwere soft. The horseback riding was a highlight of our trip

Patio was like visiting a friend’s place - so welcoming and warm. The staff are all so friendly and eager to please. The horses were all in such good condition and so well loved. Excellent hacks on such a beautiful island. The barn staff are all outstanding. Shout out to Deogo who runs a busy barn operation and our guide Laura! So many wonderful barn staff who work hard and always with a welcoming smile and eager to help you. Chef Jorge worked with our varying dietary requirements and took pride in preparing something we would enjoy. Carla prepared beautiful breakfasts and packed lunches. Our lovely stone cottages had everything you needed. I Especially respect that the property is deemed an “eco lodge” so lots of reminders of how to leave a small environmental footprint. The cottages did not have fans or screens so it was very warm unless you left the doors open. The cottages are a very new addition to the property so screens/fans may be upcoming. Thank you Angelique! who represented Patio Ranch and worked with Wild Women; organized and drove our group to many amazing activities - highlights were our beautiful lunches on our rides and our whale watching adventure. She was a lot of fun and worked hard to try to accommodate us all. Cecilia on Pico was a delight too. Had the time of my life on this trip!

I stayed at Patio Lodge for 3 days in June. The lodging was spacious with everything we needed and a beautiful view of the grounds/horse corral. Everyone at Patio went above and beyond to assist us during our stay-- we absolutely loved this visit! Patio coordinated a day trip to Pico island, transfer to the Faial crater hike, a wonderful private horse back ride catered to my skill level, and fabulous breakfast and dinner. The horses and other animals (Lucky the dog, Max the cat), are clearly happy and well taken care of. The breakfast was filling and the dinner options rotated each day, all were delicious, homemade, and fresh. Don't miss the nearby view at Porto Do Eiro and be sure to pick up a map of the island at reception. We hope to return to Patio someday for more horse riding!
