We traversed across the back roads of Colorado and Kansas, ducking in Oklahoma in the middle of the night in driving rain. Yes, there is a pay toll road coming into Tulsa (You have to call an 800 number later and register your vehicle) . Oklahoma is still using the 1960s toll road system. If you are doing Route 66, this is the place to stay. It is located right on Historic Route 66 and just a mile or two from the Catoosa Blue Whale which has long been known as an icon of Route 66 and exhaustively photographed. There is not much on Route 66 as you back track a couple miles, but once you get close to Tulsa it truly becomes the capital of Route 66. The night we were here they had a very unusual tornado that rolled through town at 4:30 a.m. Our arrival a couple hours before went smooth and a rate of $168 for a king bed suite was a great price on the fourth floor which includes a nice sitting area. We found the cleanliness of the room to be subpar as the couch was dirty and the carpets in the hall were dirty. The breakfast was the usual waffles and such, but the lady taking care of it really hustled and did a good job. You are so close to so many Route 66 attractions here that it’s an inexpensive base to work out of; plan on spending a lot of time in Tulsa if you are cruising the Route.

This place was great. Much better than the Fairfields, in different cities that we stayed at the previous two nights Just the Fairfield we have come to expect. The pool was open, the Wi-Fi great and they individual sized ice cream in the little store. Description of room. We were upgraded to a king suite. The living room side. A TV, computer desk with a desk lamp. There was a chair, but it didn’t have wheels. The living room also had a coffee table, couch with 4 pillows. Looks like a pull out. There was an end table and a floor lamp. The bedroom side had a king bed, end tables and each has one drawer at each end with wall lamps over the table. There is only power on one side of the bed. But it is on the adjacent wall not even on the wall at the head of the bed. There is a bureau with 4 drawers. The bedroom side also has a TV. There is a closet. It is really small but it has an ironing board and iron. The bathroom has a shower. There is a medium sized vanity in the bathroom. I have seen larger ones and I have seen smaller ones. There is also a hair dryer. The toiletries are on the wall and called North 39 degree. But their labels are light green on light blue/grey and really had to read. There is also a small bar of soap and a small bottle of body lotion. Breakfast was like most. Cereal, oatmeal with toppings, juices. The hot food here was scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy. They had apples, which were good, but their oranges looked really old. They had boiled eggs but they tasted old. They had yogurt, toast, bagels but no English muffins. They did have some chocolate muffins. All and all, pretty good.
