Riva Del Sole Resort & SPA

If you want a care free vacation experience, this is not the place. I write this as I’m still here and as a professional in the travel industry I am quite shocked. First, (and not the reason why I am writing this review) I reserved a Classic Room and a Riva Room. The Riva room should be 30% bigger, it is not. The only difference between my two rooms is the Riva room has a small walk in closet, I had no intention of spending an extra 150€/ night for a closet!! Second, if you want to spend your time worrying about towels then this is the place. Went to the beach and got towels. When we left the beach was told we can leave the towels on the chairs. Went to the pool and they wouldn’t give us new towels, as we were told the towels we received at the beach were the same towels we were entitled to for the pool, and that we should talk to the front desk manager. After speaking to the front desk manager I was told I have to stay with the same towels !! Furthermore I was told read the fine print in the towel card, guest are only allowed to change towels 2 times a week. How absurd for a resort! As a travel professional who owns an agency I can tell you, guest do not want to be worried about towels and be schlepping towels around while on vacation. I will not be recommending this hotel to clients and am writing this to advise you the reader as well. Unfortunately, after reading some of the other reviews here on TripAdvisor (and the hotels responses), it appears the hotel refuses to learn from guest feedback (and only makes excuses for their behavior), as it seems I am not the only guest with this sort of experience.

I can not express how amazing this stay was. I had just flown in from New Zealand (took almost 40 hours) and made my way to San Vito. I was greeted by Giacomo who was so friendly and welcoming. She took her time to help me unload my things and get them to my room. Organised my car to be picked up and safely parked for the duration of my stay. Was so helpful in recommending restaurants, bars and beach related things. The room was perfect. Very clean and comfortable with a balcony facing the ocean. Great location, fantastic breakfast, coffee and service. Couldn't recommend this hotel more! 1000/10

Who ever thought you could get bad food in Italy? I certainly did not! This is a fabulous location with a lot of huge potential for outdoor activity. However, we were turned off by the wretched experience with the food. Come on guys ... it's Italy! Had dinner in the brightly-lit, cafeteria-like atmosphere of the Pizza/Grill and the fish special (we are on the ocean) was terrible. Wanted to dine in the nicer restaurant but the menu was limited, unappealing. I would give this a pass next time and stick with the local trattoria. Front desk, restaurant staff lovely!

The place is beautiful, and the hotel is comfortable. Except for some minor problems, immediately addressed by the staff, the rooms are quite clean. The staff is kind and careful. The problems come with the administration and its attitude, which can be summarized as "let's get the most out of every client." In sum: 1) I read Manager's reply to the clients' complaints about the high prices of very standard products. He always makes the same point: you pay for the quality of our raw materials. Whether this may be true or debatable with the dinners and cooked food (frozen pasta served at the pizzeria may well be an incident), I am at a loss to understand how this can be true for standard water (4 euros per bottle at the beach bar) soft drinks, or frozen pizza again at the bar. 2) I have never been to a proper resort, paid as such, with tennis courts that must be paid as an extra. The worst thing is that these two courts are literally destroyed. They could have been acceptable 20 years ago, maybe. 3) Even worse, we were supposed to stay from August 10 to August 21. We extended the performance for two extra days as rooms were available. They charge us 95 euros more per day. Lovely.

I have been there with friends and it has been fantastic. Good food at the restaurant, sandy beaches, cocktail bars and lot of fun with the locals. I have alteady booked my holidays for the next year.

Was a nice stay but the food at the resort is below average, especially for a stay in Italy. The average age of the guests is over 75 and as a young family we felt a bit uncomfortable. The beach is super nice but for a four star hotel I missed any food or drink service on the beach and not just fresh towels every 2 days.
