On 16 July 2024, I made a reservation at Le 22 Apparthotel in Casablanca for the period 20 September to 17 October 2024, which was confirmed by the hotel. This trip held immense personal significance for me and my husband, as it was scheduled around my In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment at the Ghandi Clinic following unsuccessful attempts in the UK. Given the emotional and financial strain of this process, I expected a seamless experience through ***********. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Due to a change in our schedule, I made an additional booking for 18-19 September 2024, which was also confirmed and paid in full. Upon our arrival on 18 September, everything initially appeared to be in order. However, on the morning of 20 September, I received an unexpected message from *********** stating that our accommodation had been cancelled by the hotel, without any prior notice or explanation. When we spoke with the hotel management, we were informed that the cancellation was due to a "lack of vacancies," despite our booking being confirmed months in advance. To our shock, we were offered the same room if we agreed to pay an additional £600, a situation that felt both unethical and exploitative. Feeling cornered, we reluctantly paid for an extra night at full price before being forced to seek alternative accommodation at a higher rate due to the lack of availability in the area. This is nothing short of extortion of money! During our stay, we also encountered poor communication from the staff, particularly the management. The staff did not speak any English and made little to no effort to communicate efficiently or address our concerns. Our attempts to discuss these issues were met with hostility and indifference, which significantly affected the quality of our experience. Additionally, the breakfast provided was of poor quality, with limited variety, which fell short of the standard expected from such an establishment. The room itself was small and was not what we expected but would have suited our purpose if the hotel had engaged professionally. There was no parking out the front of the hotel during our short stay. We sincerely hope that future guests are treated with the professionalism and respect that was clearly lacking during our stay.
