Our family recently had an extended stay at The Element Hotel in Carmel due to an unexpected home flooding situation, and I can honestly say we could not have asked for a better place to land during a difficult time. What started as a necessity turned into a warm, welcoming, and even joyful experience that we’ll never forget. We stayed for nearly four weeks with our two young daughters, and from day one, the entire staff made us feel like family. From the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast staff—everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and cared for. Special shoutouts to Andrea, who was always a bright and cheerful presence; Tarryn, who consistently made sure we had everything we needed; and Hamid, the manager, whose kindness and attentiveness made a real difference. Their warmth made a hard time feel lighter. Let’s talk about the breakfast—a daily highlight. Freshly prepared omelets, delicious yogurt, and a wide variety of options were always available. It wasn’t a common thing but one morning, we even had the option for a delicious French toast. The breakfast area was clean, bright, and inviting. The chef even brought our omelet plates directly to us, which was such a thoughtful touch. It truly felt like a personal experience each morning. The indoor pool was a major hit with our girls—we went swimming every other day and it became a part of our routine. The outdoor social space was another favorite, offering a relaxed and cozy area to hang out with friends and let the kids play. During our stay, we experienced three different room types: The standard king room was great for a solo traveler or couple. It had a nice kitchenette and a full-sized fridge, but with the sofa bed pulled out for the kids, the living space felt tight. Still a great option, just not ideal for a family. The executive one-bedroom suite was a major step up in space and layout. Even with the sofa bed open, there was ample room for the kids to move around. The larger kitchen and open bedroom area gave us all room to breathe—and for the girls to play. The standout for us was the Commons one-bedroom suite. This space was beyond perfect for a family. It had a full kitchen (including oven and large fridge), dining table, sectional sofa bed, bar seating for six, and tons of room. The attached bedroom also included another fridge and microwave, plus a desk. We never felt cramped here, and the setup gave us a real sense of normalcy and routine. When it finally came time to check out, our daughters were genuinely sad to leave—and honestly, we were too. The Element truly became a home away from home. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, especially for families or anyone needing an extended stay. The combination of thoughtful design, incredible staff, and family-friendly amenities made all the difference during a challenging time for us. Thank you, Element Carmel, for everything. We’ll always be grateful.
