I recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott Detroit Canton and was met with conditions that deeply marred my experience. On the night of August 16, 2024, my initial room was far from the clean, welcoming space I anticipated. It was littered with hair in the bathroom, shower, and bedroom areas, and the trash bins had not been emptied from the previous occupant. The hotel staff did accommodate a room change, which I initially thought was a considerate gesture. However, the following morning revealed a more distressing issue: ants infested our new room, leading to numerous bites. In an attempt to rectify the situation, housekeeping sprayed insecticide while we were still in the room, which was both disruptive and raised health concerns. To make matters worse, the front desk informed us that management would not be available to discuss further actions until the afternoon. When I followed up, I was told a manager would only be available on Monday. Later in the day, I received a call from Sharon, a front desk agent, whose conduct was nothing short of unprofessional. She was rude, condescending, and outright combative. Our simple request for another room change and compensation was met with a blunt “that’s not gonna happen.” Due to Sharon’s unwelcoming attitude, I decided to check out early. It’s disheartening to feel unvalued as a loyal guest of Marriott. I have taken photographs and videos as evidence of the unacceptable conditions we endured. It is with hope that this review prompts a swift and appropriate response to address these issues.
