Green Village Mekong

Green Village Mekong is my happiest place in the world. I loved sitting on my balcony listening to all of the sounds. Cicadas singing, wind whistling through the banana tree palms, roosters calling out and the big fish splashing in the private lake. The food is fantastic. All freshly served with a beautiful sunset. Thy the hostess, Tran, Oanh, Thoa - Anh and the rest of the team are simply lovely people. This was my second visit and I can guarantee we will be coming back again and again. Beautiful resort on a Mekong canal. The bungalows are fantastic: spacious, clean and cozy. There is a fridge and air conditioning in the room. There is also the possibility of having lunch. In the common area there is a swimming pool and a billiard table. They organize various excursions on the Mekong Delta

This little slice of life on the Mekong Delta was perfect for us as first-timers to Vietnam. We arrived in Can Tho by Vu Linh limo van from HCMC, then had a very easy transfer a few kms to Green Village. The setting is beautiful - just a short distance from a small village and down a long driveway, you are quickly transported to a tranquil haven surrounded by greenery. Unfortunately our room did not come with air conditioning as we had booked, but the fans worked reasonably well at night while we slept. We loved the over-water deck for relaxing in our hammock with a book and a beer. The honesty box system made it easy to buy drinks and the food was amazing - it was great not to have to put any thought into breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed all the food (big thanks to the lovely cook), and the whole fish on our first night was a real treat! The boat trip to the floating market is fantastic and our guide (Ni) and driver (friendly guy who works at GVM) were both excellent. It was really interesting to see local life on the canals. We would definitely return, and it has inspired me to seek out similar unique accommodation in the future. Thanks Ty and team!

This is a small family run accommodation, with home cooked meals and a personal touch. The family were friendly, with the 2 younger ladies having good English. The room was lovely, and although we chose an air con room which was described as being first floor and not on the water, this did it an injustice. It was up about 5 steps onto the verandah, and although the verandah wasn't sticking out OVER the water (as some of the rooms were), it was right next to the water and facing it. So we were very pleased. I guess the room was a little on the small side, but it was perfectly fine for our needs, with a comfortable bed and good air con. I don't think staff came inside the room at all during our stay, but they did leave fresh towels outside for us each day. We had fun trying out the kayaks one day, for the life of me I don't know how we didn't fall in as it was so wobbly on getting in! We also used the hotel's free bikes, which was great. They gave us a map of where to go, to get to Can Tho itself, and talked us through it to ensure we were clear. I was then able to easily follow the route on Google Maps. We really enjoyed the cycle trip, it was a good chance to venture out on our own, and to explore Can Tho. We were asked each day to confirm what time we wanted to eat, I guess with it being home cooked food it helped them to plan ahead. All food was delicious, you didn't choose from a menu - which I hadn't realised, so was a bit alarmed when food just was brought to the table on our first evening, as I am vegetarian and my husband is not very adventurous with his food! But they had remember I had noted being veggie on my booking and had done me something specially, and we both really enjoyed our food. They had an honesty system for drinks, where you helped yourself, and wrote down on bit of paper what you had consumed. Then at the end they used that to create your bill. The only small thing I'd say is that I hadn't realised from the online photos, that there is actually nowhere near the pool to sit and sunbathe. It wasn't a big deal for us, we still took a couple of dips in the pool, but had we intended to stay more nights we'd have definitely been a bit disappointed there. All in all we loved staying here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We only had one night sadly here but it was wonderful…great lodge on the river complete with comfy hammocks to chill out in. Lovely clean and warm swimming pool was a real bonus. Dinner was excellent quality and too much got us to eat…up at 5.30 for the floating markets tour…our guide was Ni, she was excellent. Very knowledgeable, friendly and great English language! As has been said in all reviews the people plus the location are what makes Green Village special, don’t miss it if you get chance.
