This is your standard cookie cutter Hampton Inn with most of the amenities you normally expect and very convenient to I-20. It’s in an area of Camden being newly developed with a new Holiday Inn Express right across the street and a Springhill Suites by Marriott being built next door, so there will be lots of new hotel options to choose from. There’s also a small shopping center with a Mexican restaurant within walking distance. Caroline checked us in to the hotel and she was a great welcome hostess. The beds were comfy, room and common areas were clean and I liked the muted gray decor throughout the hotel. The only things I didn’t like was that they only have cable TV (no local channels) and the breakfast buffet, which had no variety. There were powdered eggs (which I hate), waffle maker, oatmeal, pork sausage, yogurt and cereal. There was no turkey or chicken sausage or bacon, no boiled eggs, no grits (which is a standard at most Southern properties), no biscuits or fresh fruit. Very disappointing so we hit the road. Also, be advised that housekeeping is only offered on request, so if you don’t ask, you don’t get! We weren’t told that at checkin so I was glad I asked on the second morning of our stay. But, overall, it was a nice place to stay, but, I’ll probably try one of the other hotel options on my next stay.
