Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cambridge

Finding the Holiday Inn Express in Cambridge, OH was a little confusing (the drive off the highway leads to the back of the hotel with no sign indicating the hotel name), but once we finally found the front of the hotel, we were easily checked into a clean, attractive room with a king bed and good lighting. The location is far enough from the interstate to provide a quiet stay. The room had enough space to be comfortable, and the bed provided a good sleep with both soft and firm pillows (love that feature of HIE). The bedside tables are large enough to accommodate a sleep machine. The opposite side of the room provided a closet for hanging clothes, a bench, a luggage rack, a large TV, desk, and a good task chair. An upholstered chair is a must-have for lounging in the evening; this one was a little low but comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional with a tub shower. We appreciated the hotel-size refrigerator, microwave, and single-cup coffee maker. Breakfast the next morning was just what we've come to expect at HIE -- a variety of hot and cold items and the soft, delicious cinnamon rolls (wonderful!). Staff are friendly and welcoming. We will return to this HIE if we return to Cambridge in the future.

Great location to 70. One step into Room 222 and all you can smell is stale cigarette smoke. It's definitely in the ac unit, probably the carpets. Black spots on the privacy curtain...uncertain if it's mold or ash. Options provided to us, after informing Vince of my 2 yo daughter's asthma: 1. chemical spray to mask the odor. Probably not a great idea for an asthmatic. 2. kick rocks ...at 9pm with a 2 yr old. "Stay somewhere else...Plenty of people to offer the room to" 3. Rollaway in MIL's room. 3 adults, 1 child, a rollaway, a pack & play, and all our things. 4. Stop complaining, or the police will be called. Oddly the key to room 222 stopped working after the complaint. Locked inside was the baby's food & medicine. Resolved with another trip to the front desk. Unfortunate coincidence I'm sure. I'll be staying in the trap house room tonight. Wife & kid are upstairs with my MIL. We'll try to sort it out with the morning staff. Writing this to inform future guests, but also document in case they try to charge me a cleaning fee because the room smells like a wet Newport.

The facility is immaculate, the staff is very friendly, and the hot breakfast is pretty good. Unrelated, but the downtown is very quaint and offers lots of opportunities for antique and vintage shopping.
