Sandymouth Holiday Resort

We’ve just returned from our 10th stay at Sandymouth in the past 3 years and very sad to see that the park is going downhill. This used to be excellent and we have loved visiting here since 2021, but having been twice this year we feel that the park is not being kept up to the standards previously set. Unfortunately for the first time I’ve had reason to complain to both Hoseasons and Darwin Escapes (who manage the park due to poor maintenance of the facilities). I’m very disappointed that neither company have taken any responsibility for fixing the issues we encountered and have reported, and sadly seem to think that quoting the T’s and C’s in response to every email is sufficient. Sadly this doesn’t resolve the issues we faced. One being the kids pirate ship area being closed due to health and safety. This has now been closed for both visits in April and August, whilst still being advertised on Darwin Escapes website during our stay. Since my complaint this has been removed from the website , and it has since been confirmed by email this will be permanently removed. Currently this sits in a main area of the park whilst being netted off with signs up saying it’s not in use. This leaves little in the way of a play area for children aged 6+, as the soft play is for 5 years and under and other than this there are 2 swings and a small climbing frame. The park does put on a programme of activities for kids. We paid for 2 of these and whilst one was ok and my child enjoyed it; the other craft activity was poor. It cost £5 and was 2 sheets of stickers for the children to make a picture, no effort was put in to make it exciting or imaginative and I could buy the same set of sticker sheets for a £ or 2 in high street stores. So this was a bit disappointing. A small arcade area has been added to the park this year, although it does feel this has been down to make some extra £ rather than spending to fix and maintain the children’s outdoor play area. We used the swimming pool twice, this was nice enough and ideal in size and depth for my 6 year old but there were no pool toys or anything out for the kids which would have been a nice touch. The main issue we have faced this year is that WiFi (a facility advertised as being available in all accommodations) is completely non accessible in both Bodmin 2 units we have stayed in this year. We were told on site in April this was due to a part being damaged in a storm and that they were waiting on a replacement part. 5 months later this has not been fixed, and you can see the missing part on top of telegraph post from the caravans. Having reported this on site twice and being given no help, I have now reported this to both Hoseasons and Darwin Escapes. I’ve clearly explained my issue is not that the WiFi is patchy and unavailable at times (which it is throughout the park) as this has always been the case for our first 8 visits, but that the issue is there is a broken / missing part which stops the WiFi fr

Would definitely come back. Food- very tasty and quick service. Kids entertainment- Owen and Lucy were so enthusiastic and all the kids seemed to have a fab time at the mini disco. Swimming - the indoor pool is lovely, not huge so book a session. Accommodation- we stayed in Bude 2 (plot 100) and it was nice and clean, had lovely views and was toasty and warm. General facilities- reception has a small shop for things like milk, bread etc Value for money - really good value for money Our stay was in between Christmas and New Year and it was nice and quiet
